New '05 Teal/White Retro Paint Scheme

I was at my dealer today and they had a bunch of new bikes in with a trick new paint scheme. It was billed as some limited edition color set. It was bright teal metallic outside and something like glacier white inside. They had a Deuce and a Fatboy (2 each) in this color set. It was skunk stripped on the fenders too. It looked friggin’ awesome! It was totally retro, old school looking. They had different tank graphics too, not badges. A new looking logo. Has anyone else seen these? Are there pictures out on the web? I couldn’t Google any up. Do you like it? I want to find a kit for my Deluxe. That would look very cool.

I assume it's different from the teal and white paint scheme they were using on the sporty's for a while?

Don't know. I saw there were some 2001s that got a special Teal/White. I've not seen one. These were a bright or light teal metallic on white.

That's it. Nice spy photo work. They had a couple FLSTFs there too. They were nice! I went back today and all but one were gone. Retro tank graphics too, did you notice? The teal is meallic.

These photo's are from the local dealer's website, I didn't take them. I did see this WG last week when I was there, though.

They are quarterly special edition paint schemes. Other than 2003 harley puts put 4 limited production special paint schemes for the sportys, softtail, and dyna families each year. I have never seen them for touring models. I think this is the third quarter scheme, before that was a sparkle purple and the last quarter is a burnt orangish/copper color and black two tone. I think those orange schemes look even more retro than the teal. But the teal is sharp!

They are calling it Turquoise Pearl and Sand. Here's a detail. So far I've seen a Springer, Sporty, Wide Glide and a Fatboy in this trim.

I liked teal when it became a popular color on autos in the 90s, but seems old/dated to me now. I do like that HD logo though.

I saw one of those purple bikes new at another dealer when I was shopping for a softail. They were doing the hard sell on the limited nature and had marked it up $1,500. F'that. But these seemed to be MSRP albiet a bit more for two-tone.

Teal White

My wife has an 05 XL1200 Custom in that color. I wanted an Aria helme painted to match for her so I took a new one to the Custom painter the local Harley dealer uses. (Long part of the story but wanted to show not talking out my butt). They painted the helmet for me. What they told me is that the Teal and Sand colors are the same on Harleys. What makes it "limited" is the Pearl coat shot over top.

It matches so I have to beleive them.

Seems to me you canot tell the difference in "limited" color and any Harley in Teal at 20 ft. But it makes it better if it ever has to be fixed. The decal is what worries me. I really like the color, and for once my wife listened ("ya buy a bike on emotion and not logic....yes the Honda is 1/3 the price, but this Harley says you").

That paint set has been out for a while now. Several months, anyway. Best custom set I've seen yet.
