Shipping my bike

In about less than three weeks i am going to be moving from Kansas City to Long Beach CA and to make the move easier i have decided to just ship my bike out there istead of doing the 1700 mile ride alone on a sportster. I have been calling around and was wondering if 575 bucks to ship an 04 sporty 1700 miles seems a bit steep. And if there are any suggestions on who to call that may have a better price.

I shipped a bike earlier this year that I sold on Ebay. Did a lot of shopping around until I finally found a carrier. I assume that price you quoted is for an enclosed carrier, which seems about right. You might find a cheaper price if you ship it on an open carrier.

That price seems to be pretty good, if like said above, it's enclosed. If not, spend $13/day, rent a U-Haul trailer, and bring it yourself.

Uhaul quoted $167 for a seven-day rental, 4x8 enclosed trailer with 1954 free miles. Beats the $2544 they wanted from me for a small truck (one bedroom) from LA to Boston!ennis

I'd either haul it myself or ride it. If I had the time I'd ride it. Sounds like a good reason ta see some of the country.

For a little more than what U-Haul quoted you for the enclosed trailer rent, you could buy a good used 5'x8' utility trailer, strap the bike on it, hook it up and tow it out there with whatever you were going to drag the enclosed trailer with. When you get out there you have the option of keeping the trailer or sell it to recoup what you paid for it.

Bought my Road King this spring off of ebay. Had it shipped from Phoenix to Portland for $400 by 3Jokers Inc. They did a great job and were a pleasure to deal with. Good luck.

I would say that is great deal!! Now, if the Sportster was a 2000 or older, I would say you were getting bent over.

Pretty Good Price

Shipped one of my bikes (BMW K1200RS) San Francisco to West Palm Beach, FL one year ago .. shopped like crazy and my best price was $600 .. given what has happened to fuel prices, I would say the price you are getting is pretty good .. some have sugggested non-enclosed shipping .. I would say that is a LAST resort .. can't imagine what might happen at some truck stops while the driver is eating/sleeping ..

I was VERY pleased with the service I got and if you would like a line to contact them PM me .. good luck on the move
