Bought my 92 FXRS new in 92 and can't imagine selling it. There's no bike they make now that I'd rather have. It has the strongest frame, and the best engine Harley will ever make. And I'll be long dead before they stop making parts for it.

Long enough?
I love my bike and have no plans to sell it, but hey, maybe some day THE bike will come along, someday I JUST MAY be able to afford the ultimate custom. Someday, as the miles rack up maintenance may grow over my head ( or wallet ) or whatever. Plenty of reasons for selling my bike and getting a new one. But to plan the sale of the bike as I am buying it on the basis of resale value etc.? I donīt know but I just think itīs beside the point.
Had my first Harley, XL 883 for 5 years and sold it because I finally had the dough to upgrade to a big twin. 3 years and counting on the big twin.
BTW I think keeping your bike will become a necessity in the future if you want to ride an air cooled v-twin, as emissions laws etc. make it all but impossible for manufacturers to produce them. Weīre ahead of that "development" here in Europe/Germany. 2004 model Harley big twins with EFI only and they even have catalytic converters.

I bought my first Harley in May 1994. It was a Sportster 1200 and rode it until the fall of 2000. I sold it and picked up a 03 Electra Glide Standard in September 03. I'll probably end up keeping this one.....but who knows!!

Hard to say what the future holds. Right now I am plannin gon keeping it for awhile. Part of it is all the extras. Stock is pretty plain jane. But in a few years start having little stuff I could get annoyed. Wait and see.

i dont believe in a motorcycle as an investment in anything except my own enjoyment. whether it be looking at it, riding it or working on it. i dont count the beans going in and wont compare to the beans i get when i'm done.

Amen brother!
Had my 03 2 tone V-Rod since July last year. I might buy more bikes, but this one is not going anywhere. I have added pipes, and chrome etc and it is a work in progress still. Someone said something about the best engine Harley ever made before. IMHO this is it. Not the most traditional perhaps, but what a motor!

'04 E-Glide Standard.....deal 08JAN04.....delivery (after some mods)....10FEB04......miles..2,800+.....previous.. ..'96 1200 Sporty....JUL96...just sold to friend 15MAYO4....just under only 24,000 miles...put just under 19,000 by JUN08, then situation changed and only put the rest since then......was going to keep for wife, but she decided to let friend have it (Who wanted it BADLY), and then get what's just right for her when she gets on the road after her motorcycle training course, which she's signed up for beginning of AUG. All my bikes have been kept about 8 yr. each, but then this one may be THE keeper! Best ever.

02 FLHT, I bought it new on 16 June 02. It now has 20K on it. I will keep it until I start having major mechanical problems, hopefully that is a long time from now
