2014 Indian

What do you guys think of the new Indian lineup? I think that 18K is WAY too high price point for their to become a big following.

the problem i see is why? the have victory! ugly as sin but rideable, so the only reason for indian is just the name? maybe it will fool some of the people that it is an Indian and not just the name slapped on a new bike. my guess this will be the fourth time the indian name proves unsustainable.

18K is 1/2 of what they were asking with the S&S engines. The new power plant looks like it has some promise and it certainly has the looks. I think they have a great alternative to the HD offering now, so we will see what the public thinks when they unveil them in Sturgis.

I really like victory, I think they look pretty cool but I asked the same question, why? I think this could be a real detriment to Polaris in that they will start spreading too thin. The saying comes to mind, jack of all trades, master of none. I think the indian bikes look pretty neat but your absolutely correct, it's just the name and a few designs for a company's past.

You can buy an entry-level big twin for 13,500. Indians entry-level is 18.5k. To ME I don't see a group willing to spend that.

111 ci.... 119ft/lbs torque. 6 speed. ABS. Cruise control......close to or near equivalent of a Harley Davidson CVO for $10 to $12 thousand less...... this could get interesting.

It's not a bad looking bike. I like they way the website say "Since 1901" and "1st" like they are the same company and the first ever motorcycle company. IMO there is absolutely no connection to the original Indian other than name. They are not "Since 1901" and that should be considered false advertising. They are "Since 2012" at best.

I agree, I like the look of the bikes, but there isn't a THING about them that has heritage other than the name. It will get some people though and you will hear that argue net now the website says that.

They have the opportunity to be a threat to Harley but at that price I think they missed. If that was the price of the Cheifton (sp?) they would have something. That would get market from Honda Harley wannabes.

I think you have to hand it to Polaris for doing an outstanding job on this especially when compared to previous efforts.

Nitram_b4 is reading this now saying WTF is this?
I think they did a nice job, the engine looks sweet, I would not mind owning one.
This comes from a guy that has not owned anything but Harleys in the last 30 years

I would like one also, I think they look like the indian of old, but for the price I can't justify it. The chief vintage sure looks sweet though. I LOVE the tan leather, it just does something for me.

Love 'em. And you get lots of stuff standard that you pay EXTRA for on a Harley.
And you also know you're looking at an Indian when you see one (not just another clone with a Harley motor).
Also seeing one in person can make a big change in perception - but for now those things look great.

They don't look like a Victory. Different stye. I like the look.

I don't think $18k is bad. That is less then a chopper, and more rideable. IMO that is a decent price point. Wish HD had a 5yr warranty. Hell I wish it had 119tq at 3kRPM.

As far as not being an Indian, they look more like an Indian, then Harley looks like an old Harley.

Harley is on it's third ownership. No Harleys any more either.
