OK guys saw this bike ... what do you think?
Mods....Please move to correct forum if this is out of place.
Been riding a V star for Years. Last HD was back in the early 90's. Now that prices are reasonable and Metrics are parity in price I was looking for some standards and found this...
06 Fat Boy 6700 Miles. Dealer asking $12K (Independent dealer and Shop.) I prefer Independent shops.
The only thing I don't care for are the spoke wheels, but the dealer said they would replace them with stock wheels for Around $300.
Didn't ask if it was EFI or carbed. What would be the value difference?

Looks like a good one. Also consider for less than $6K more you can buy a brand new 2013 which has a lot of improvements, much higher resale value in the future, 103" engine, 6 speed, 7 years newer, warranty, better financing options (if that's an issue).

I think bike looks good just the way it sits ,spokes look good, kinda old school traditional. Was actually thinking of changeling my stock fatboy wheels to black fat spoke

That was my thought as well.....But I am a cash buyer and somehow I cannot wrap my head around dropping $18,000 on a motorcycle. Then another $2000 to make it mine. When people think in terms of payments, its much easier to swallow. We are cash and carry family especially in these times. Plus going forward the depreciation on an equipt 07 has to be less than a stock 2013 in real dollars before the same adds....ugh
You may be right though, I am not so sure the value is there because of the tremendous changes made to the line. However The asking price seems in line with most for sale.
Truth be told I would have to come out of pocket with $6000 and my V Star (they apparently have a buyer looking for my bike). I had a buyer for my bike a few months ago for $6900 when I was looking at a Dyna Lo I found. But that bike was sold before I got the offer.
As far as spokes go. I want a tire I can patch and limp somewhere with. Tubes don't allow that and require towing. Plus I am not a clean freak and dirty spokes look pretty bad. There is no toothbrush in my wash locker. LOL
Thanks for the responses.

Being a cash buyer, you probably can get the asking price down a bit and with only 6700 miles,it's barley broken in and there is something to be said for not having payments every month especially these days..... Just my 1 cent worth

Looks real nice and I also like the Spokes but it will be your bike ?
I think the price is in line with what I see selling .
Miles that low the bike should be like new .
As for EFI or carbed I like the Carbed myself but it would not stop me from buying ?
Good luck and enjoy

Not a super price.....PLUS in 07, they came standard with a 96inch motor, and a six speed trans..........the 2006 is too close in price not to get the updated running gear.

They should change out the spokes for free.
Ask them to do that.
Cause they will probably get more than $300 when they re-sell them.

They probably would. However the Technical differences one year away are giving me pause for $12K. I am going down to look at the cleaner 08 this afternoon.

6 speed tranny way over rated...96 runs way lean....make the deal and don't look back.

Also need to check title/vin number, my son-in-law sold one that looked identical to that one a few months back that was a rebuilt wreck with an aftermarket frame..not saying this is it but check to be sure because it was sold to an indy dealer in that neck of the woods.
