Thanks I think I am going to pass on that one. It is always good to leave the dealership, sleep on it, and give things more thought and research.
Now that I think about it an look at some pics The Shield was very very cloudy and "weathered" for a low mileage bike. They said they could polish it out. Something does not "smell right" . My shield is clear as new and I have 12K on mine and it lives out doors during the day at work most of the year in rain and shine. .
KBB does not use mileage ratings either because they claim that can be tampered with easily. Sometimes you get an instinct about a bike and have to share and get some thoughts. I am not impulsive. I have been looking at HDs here and there for about 10 months fully enjoying my current ride. Every once in a while one catches my eye and stops me enough to look deeper.
Thank you all for your input.

When I buy my bikes I buy what I want.
88, 96, carbed, FI, 5 speed, six speed, I'm not all that impressed with any of those variables.
If the bike is the bike for you (or of your dreams) buy it.
Just move on. If you listen to every one not only would you not have the bike, but most likely any thing you have in life.
I think it's an awsome low milage very well taken care of bike that I would jump all over.
And for the spoke wheels, deffinately, but I'm a spoke wheel guy...

YOu are right in many ways.. However Everything we have is paid for and with cash which means a whole lot more thought is placed into every purchase because $325 a month for 4 years is an easy decision. $12,000 withdrawn and placed in an envelope on a table changes the game.
It is because I listen to people I discover things I did not think of. I am never in a hurry as long as I am comfortable with what i have. Buyer's remorse whether from making payments after a couple years or impulse buy is something I don't experience. Especially on something that is a luxury.

I agree, paying cash is the way to go. Part of that is that it makes the purchase REAL. Listen to what others have to say but in the end you should go with your gut.
The right one will let you know and there won't be any questions about it.

I own a 05 and I love it, but I've done some upgrades, no way I'd pay over 10K for an 06, to many out there for sale. I would look at the 08, they had the 96" motor, 6 speed (althou I don't care about that) wider rear wheel, hydralic cam tensioners, better heads and bigger oil pump.

If they take it I am screwed. So I offer $10,500 and they take it but I find a bike like the one in Charleston for $1500 more. newer, nicer color, better condition. Better value from private seller who would appreciate cash. I want a good bike first then a good deal. there are a lot of good bikes with bad deals and bad bikes with good deals. It's the good bike along with a good deal many here found and enjoy. Unless money is not an object to the sale. In that case there is no buyer's remorse. It's all relative.
I am not so sure about the initial bike and a few here got me thinking which is exactly why i come to this site and hope after I finally find one if I ever do, there will be some catching up to do on the mechanics.

My problem is I do get emotionally attached to certain bikes, wich has got me in the past.
Cash is the only way to buy a bike...
