I'm sorry I don't understand
With bikes going to larger displacement, and performance becoming an issue on touring bikes, why doesn't the MOCO introduce a touring model with the VRod engine....I know the purists want the sound, but this motor is "Bad to the Bone" and designed by Porsche, if I am not mistaken! There is a market for that bike, a bad assed engine in a dresser and variations of that dresser, I don't understand it. Am I wrong, or what? There are a lot of bikers out there and this bike would expand Harley's market!

I have lusted over the idea of that engine in a cruiser as well and can't figure why Harley hasn't done more with it.

Been talked about before and the reason why the aftermarket is so strong.Actually all one needs to do is puts bags and a shield on a VRod done deal.
Personally doubt you will see the MOCO do much with the current air cooled until the EPA regulates most internal combustion out of business.

Hahaha... no kidding. All the magazines, all the wise guys, predict the V-Rod tourers every year around the presentation-time. There are a few full-dressed V-Rods around and a lot of Photoshopped images to fill the biker-magazines.

Isn't there a picture somewhere here at VTF of a V-Rod bagger?

i think you might see something in 2014,they have a patent on water cooled heads for the current engines, but a v-rod touring bike would sell well.

Yes, I have seen some pics of a V rod bagger , photoshopped and otherwise....I don't know the actual sales figures for the V rod family of bikes, but another usage for that engine couldn't be a bad idea, from a production stand point anyway!
Yes, this subject has been discussed, but maybe not quite enough? Maybe there is some Harley execs. lurking in the shadows of this forum!

Personally I'd like to see a big air-cooled V-4 of about 2600cc or more based on mating a couple of V-twins together in a touring bike.

I did pest control and one of my customers had a VROD with hard bags and a faring. Looked odd to me but he loved it.

Well apparently MOCO isn't convinced there is a market for it otherwise the greedy bastids would have put one out. But then, maybe they are waiting for all the wantones to work themselves into a frenzy, thus a shortage when they do come out and gouge the living heck out of you while you simmer on a 2 year wait list. Ah yes. The good ol days!

Some purists don't see the need for a water cooled Harley. I believe the MOCO does have a plan to tap into that market if nothing else to compete with cooler running leaner, higher output engines. I say go for it.

Really! How many forums are you on, the idea has been discussed many times. Also there are a couple of companies out there that make a kit to convert a V Rod into a RG, Google Road Rod.
