I was thinking instead of a usually low wave, how about a quick salute for a gesture for our brethren in uniform!!

you left out the continuous grip contact wave (recognition) with the palm remaining incontact with the grip and the thumb staying below it in the usual riding position. Then only one or more fingers are slightly raised to acknowledge any oncoming riders.....this is sometimes accompanied by a slight head nod (recognition), depending on, and related to, travel speed of course!

i'm actually aware of that option, chapter four page 62 in the real
biker manual. all of the options i made reference to are out of my
poser manual (my favorite source for guidance).

"Poser manual" goes without saying. REAL bikers don't need a manual.

OMG, just realized that since I don't have a poser manual, I am not even a real poser... A poser poser?

I don't mind waving at people. It doesn't cost a thing to be friendly to folks.

I was saving up for a pair of blue chaps to match my bike (G Man envy)...but you are right; I should get the manual.

the wave
Usually wave, but I think it's gotten out of hand. Too many bikes out, then it seems kind of senseless.

Now that is some fine looking chaps and my wife would slap me hard if I waved to her.
Alas, I guess I need to get the poser manual first. Try to picture how hot I would look in those blue chaps!

Between this and those pictures, I'm beginning to understand the attraction of assless chaps.

I like waving to other survivors, greybeards. Young folks on crotch rockets and yuppies in sandals and shorts not so much. If your riding an old well maintained bike or even an ancient ratbike even better. I really don't care if they wave back or not. I'm seasoned to perfection and don't need others approval. I allways wave to kids in back seats and sometimes rev it up for them LOL. Under the grey hair and leather I'm probably still a kid in some ways too.

I wave at mopeds. They need the love too. You're right about the kids, they're fun.

1969 I got my first bike that kind of looked like a motorcycle. Yamaha 100 twin! Went out on the highway and every biker out there waved. I was confused as hell, why were these guys waving at me? Back then even the club guys waved. Not too many years went by and they got too cool to wave, OK with me! Here we are a bunch of years later and even guys who have owned a bike for 20 minutes are too damn cool, OK with me! Rule of thumb: if a guy doesn't wave there is much higher probability (not a certainty) he's an asshole. Nearly all nice guys wave. Smart guys get the OL to do it for them.
As always IMHO
