you don't have to waste riding time by spending it polishing chrome.

My stock chrome pipes still had good finish after 20 years when a crack developed and I bought a set of black pipes. I like the way the black pipes look and I think the finish will hold up reasonably well.

Chrome holds up fine, my bike is a 2000 and I don't spend a lot of time polishing it, and the chrome looks like new ( except where it dragged the road ) I clean it up good maybe once a year or if I have my hands all over it working on the bike.

Halloo. Have had bikes with both chrome and coating. Of the two, I have found chrome to hold up better than the coating. But this really takes into account of how much riding is involved, especially if you get on and off the scoot a lot. In-town "bar-hoppers" tend to be a little less forgiving than those that are ridden for long, continuous distances. Just my two.

C......

maintenance is required for either but the chrome "changes" less over time than the coated stuff, or stainless. If you overlook the blue and purple color which is inevitable. The coated pipes color mellows out over time and looks less "crisp"

The chrome they make now with the EPA regs, don't hoold up like it use to, unless you keep it in the garage more than you ride.

Black or chrome

Who knows which is better over time, but black always looks cooler!

Ceramic coated

Ceramic coated exhaust systems will last much longer.. Either Chrome or Black.. Hope this helps... Rush systems are great..

I have a couple questions

What is done differently in today's chrome than before? It's certainly lesser quality for what I can see..

Cata5803: I had ceramic coated my Vrod's exhaust and it tarnished after a couple hundred miles even when I maintained them pretty well, but it ended up looking like crap... Any especial maintenance tips or the finish is expected to turn out like that?

I have two friends with black exhausts on their bikes and both sets have discolored and look like crap in less than two years. I have chrome on my '07 that just hit 61K miles and the chrome looks like new still.

So from that experience I am gonna say chrome.

Crome holds up with very little attention.
