Road Glide vs Street Glide
Like to hear from the owners. I am looking to pick up a touring bike. Have it narrowed down to these two options. Looking for input current owners. I like the look of both but I like the fixed fairing on the road glide. Any thoughts.

Try doing a search on the topic, the question has been asked a bazzilion times. Their the same bike, its a matter of whether you like a frame mounted or handle bar mounted fairing. If you get the Street Glide or Road Glide Custom be prepared to change the rear shocks, their seriously inadequate for anything other than single up riding.

My EG Standard is pretty similar to the Street Glide. Handles nicely in tight places and parking lots.
I have riden bikes with trunks on them and they feel a bit top heavy but I guess you could get used to it.
I just throw on my soft tour bag when traveling.

Had an 07 Streetglide for 5 yrs. Put 60,000 miles on it. Great handling bike, loved it. Took a test ride on a Roadglide. Bought a Roadglide Ultra a week later. I have only put 1,000 miles on it so far but I can say that it handles hands down superior over the Streetglide as far as cornering and no shaking in high winds on the highway. Also has a higher ground clearance.

I've ridden both. Contrary to what others may say, handling differences are negligible. In other words, buy the one that you think looks the best or fits you best.

I've got one of each, Street Glide for racing around, Road Glide for long hauls.

Geezer has the best answer, get one of each.... If not, it comes down to your test ride and preference. both are great.

I was in the same boat myself. Went with the street glide and am very happy with my decision. I for one haven't noticed any buffeting in wind and have ridden the Columbia gorge in it.

Folks in the know choose FLTR (Road Glide), and seldom do they switch to any other model down the proverbial road.
Recommended: Back-to-back demo on each and then decide. That's what I'll be doing Sept 8th. Good Luck with your selection.

I've ridden both. The Road Glide's fixed fairing contributes to better handling. The remainder of the comparo is basically styling.

I've ridden and owned both. The worst buffeting by far of any bike I've ever ridden was from the batwing fairing. I hated it. Shook my helmet to death. I didn't get that when I used to ride my fatboy without a shield. I finally got a shield (klock werks) that I could barely see over that helped stop it.
The glide no such issues. Non-existent. It also handles so much better on the interstate. The fixed fairing is far above any batwing.
There is no ride like a glide.

me too, rode one and then owned one, now a new one last year, and never looked back. If I want to go, rain or shine, I just jump on it and ride, it is my work horse!
