Oil capacity '08 96CI Dyna?

How much oil do you put in your 2008 96cubic Inch Twin cam motor for a Dyna chassis? (2.5qt, 3qt or in between?)

FYI: My first oil change, have seen 2.5qt as the capacity as well as 3qt; put 2.5 in at first but when it showed low so added the rest, wonder if it's over full now.

I know for my 08 FXSTC ( 96 ci as well ), I always put 2.5 qts. in, ride enough for it to warm up, and check it again. And it always ends up being just a little shy of where I like to keep it, so I usually ad about another 1/3 of a qt. and it makes about rite, and I've never had any problems with it, doing like that, so hope this helps ya. Ride safe.

Get a factory service manual, it will pay for itself quickly. Regarding oil level, fill to just above the "add" mark on the dipstick, go for a ride to warm it up well, then recheck. Between add and full = 1 quart, it is advisable to run about 1/2 quart low, otherwise oil may be discharged out the air filter at sustained high speeds.
