Shorty Antenna

Hello. I currently have those stock long whip antennas on my 2006 Ultra Classic. I am considering replacing them with those shorty type of antennas.
What are your thoughts please?

Go to AutoZone. They have some shorty flex antennas. They are about 12-14" high and about $10 each as i remember. I have one on my Street Glide and it works just as good as the tall stock antenna.

Exclamation

Just be careful when replacing the CB antenna - will probably damage your CB if you use a generic AM/FM antenna for it.

I replaced both the AM/FM antenna and the CB antenna with the Harley shorty antenna just about a month ago. I haven't really had a chance yet to try them out.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a seminar at my local dealer that talked about electronic additions which can be done to your bike. They had a power point that showed what type of performance can be expected with the shorty antenna's.

I don't recall all the particulars but know that in town the difference shouldn't be noticeable. It was went you traveled further away from the signal that the shorty antenna's began to suffer. No surprise there though.

I do love the new look and the fact putting the cover on the bike now will be easier than with the stock, much longer, antenna's. If the shorties don't work I can always switch back but I have a feeling I'm going to keep them.

Hello. Wow, looks great. Where can I get those shorties?

Any antenna with the proper load will work. The load is the amount of wire that is wrapped around it to get the proper length. The old c/b ant was 102 in lenght with the spring included. All of the shortys are adaptable. GO FOR IT

Replaced both of my whips with the HD shorty antennas. They work great. I have also used the Autozone antenna for the AM/FM and did not notice any signal problems. I just wanted both antennas to be the same so that is why I chose the HD's.

Those are the shorty antenna's from Harley-Davidson. They weren't exactly cheap but neither was the over 20 grand bike!

Hello. I appreciate all of your responses. Clearly there is some concern about the CB antenna being proper. I decided to get the HD antennas. At $29 each it was worth going that route.

Got the Harley shortie on my EGC and have not noticed any difference other than not running into the stock one when I'm cleaning the bike.

I have shorty antennas on my Ultra Classic. They look nice and work well around town, but my reception sucks in rural areas.
