Camping from a Wide Glide. I use a Hennessy Hammock with an underquilt and a mummy bag. I go light with all other gear as I like to eat and drink out.

Bike camping is the best way to go EVER...especially when it is done with few things. Very free.

Camping Rides
My friends and i take 2 big trips a year. One in the spring and one in the fall. Been doing it for years and some of the best memories is when we plan camping trips with NO Plan... We all agree to a general state, meet up and take off. We just got back from NM on a 6 day camping trip and had a blast. Went places and did things on the fly with a simple show of hands. When we got tired, we pulled over to the nearest camp site and pitched tents. You can get better information from local people and bikers than any map or plan will show you. If I have one tip, I would say don't plan it, just go...

Looks like it did.
My son and I spent 8 days of glorious sunshine in the northwest. He's riding the glide and the ol' man is on the softail. The drybag on the softail seat holds tent, fly, sleeping bag, air mattress and full size pillow (yes I want a pillow). It doubles as a backrest as well. The saddlebags hold clothes, a few tools, raingear etc.
I've done trips of 3 weeks and 6000 miles with this rig. Can't think of a better way to travel

Here's a good reason to motorcycle camp. Room with a view!

Absolutely! I camped the night before I met you guys in Greensboro at Deal's Gap.
It's my favorite way to ride. No real destination, just go.

First time to Sturgis this year I camped on Stage Hill at the Chip with my Brother.
Great time, decent facilities (mostly clean all the time which given all the people was amazing), tons of friendly people, amazing concerts, really great bike shows and vendors. Food was pretty good and definately worth the money. This place runs 24x7 so if you want to sleep it is not at the Chip. I would do it again in a heart beat though. I had some friends stay at Wild Bill's and they said is is much quieter crowd. Where ever you stay have a great time.

I camp with my 2004 RK Classic... First, I used to go with a tent, and the rest of the ger needed... As I am a Medically retired vet, I have some issues with having to crawl on my knees, getting in and out of tents, now... I am nowcamping with a '99 Kwik Kamp Belair trailer... I love the blasted thing... I can set it up, myself, in less than 5 minutes, I don't have to crawls anywhere, and have a queen sized bed to sleep in... Yeah, I said queen sized bed... The trailer also has 27 cuft of storage in the bottom, so no need to tie stuff all over the bike, no stuffing the bags, and if I want to drop it and go run for some eats, it's an easy task, too... I plan on doing a lot of traveling with this rig... Yes, the scooter does know it's back the, but with the savings on hotels, being able to get out in the woods, I think we can deal with that...
Lemme get a couple pics of this thing...
Okay, here's Ruby with the escape pod behind... I have a hitch mount where the tongue and ball come out the mount, otherwise it rattles like a bandit, without the trailer hitched up... Found a wiring harness that is a direct plug in, no splicing, and if something goes bewbies up on the trailer lights, it does not interfer with the regular operation of the bike's lighting...
Here is a pic of Ruby and the tent popped on the trailer, at Lake Mary Crawford, near Monticello, Ms...

Another view...

The view I liked most...

And later on in the night after scroungng up some wood... Actually, I think this is when I was running out of wood, and wanting to contain the fire, let it burn down, so I could take my happy ass to bed...
Oh, just in case someone wants to know, yes that is a cooler on the tongue... Igloo 54, with PBR inside...
