Just how many miles before a rebuild
Since my SuperGlide is my first Harley just how many miles with proper service can one get on one before a rebuild, since I live in Ohio I doubt I will wear one out but since I had over 200,000 on a car what can I expect for my Harley.

A car isn't air cooled. If you run a lot of highway mile's you might get 100K on the top end with good oil and maintence.

I know lots of guys (twin cams) with mileage way over 100,000 with no top or bottom end engine work. Most I've seen was around 230,000 miles before he wrecked it. Only engine maint was cam tensioners, cam chains, lifters, cam bearing when tensioners were changed.

Just did a 145k service last month on an 03 Ultra. All dealer maintained normal maintenance plus 2 sets of tensioners and a cam support plate. The owner rides nearly every day with around a 100 mile round trip commute.

Mine is a 07 and has about 5200 miles so far so if I dont trade up to a RG its going to be many years untill a rebuild,if my plan on moving to a warmer climate happens then maybe I could wear one out but not here in Ohio.

I use to live near Dayton. Now live over near St. Louis but the weather is not that much different. Usually park the bikes for about 3 months (Dec-Feb), which is what i call the "salt zone." Anyway, how long your bike goes without rebuild has lot to do with how it's ridden and maintained. Ride it often and maintain it regurlarly and you should see 100k+ miles easy. Not to say you won't have other little problems along the way, but these bikes will usually last a long time before a complete rebuild is necessary.

The factory specs are:
35k for a Shovelhead
75K For an Evo
100k for the TCs
Your mileage may very... yadda, yadda, yadda.
Now in the real world, I've seen plenty of Evos with well over 100k and no problems. The achiles heal on the TCs is those darn Cam Chain tensioners. If one of those explodes and sends pieces into your oil pump, end of game. This can (and has happened) as early as 30k. Mine are now gear driven.
