A guy I work with used U-Ship to ship his bike from Michigan to FL for the winter. However, I think U-Ship just brokers the shipment. Basically they put out a request for bid to transporters who match your shipping origination and destination with other shipments. My understanding if you are a little flexible on the timing and the final destination (within 100 miles), you can get some pretty decent shipment options. The actual shipping company could be different depending on the shipping lane and timing.

You can always insure the bike with any number of insurance companies.

I just used D.A.S. (Dependable Auto Shippers) to have my new bike shipped from Miami, Florida to Port Huron, Michigan. Shipping was very quick, and the price was excellent. Unfortunately they damaged my front fender during shipping. On a positive note, they came good for the repairs and I was paid out with little to no hassle at all. Whoever you end up using PLEASE buy the insurance. In my case, it was money well spent.

Allied Van Lines moves bikes as well as homeowners. They did one for me from FL to Conn. without a hitch.

I think just about any moving company will also ship it. I move a lot as I am in the Army. I have not had any issues with my bike being moved. It would be automatically insured up to a certain amount and then you have the option of purchasing additional insurance.

Regardless of what route you go, take a lot of pictures of the bike so if there is damage, you can provide proof by showing before and afer photos.

It's going to vary based upon the distance it needs to be shipped.
