Yep, that's what we're being force fed by the Insurance crowd and the medical industry.
Check this link.... For leading causes of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)..........:

I like my chances with a helmet a lot better , don't care if it doesn't look "tough" or "cool" .

Road Rider magazine co-founder Roger Hull - 1924-1995, traveled worldwide on a HD. During his years as writer on motorcycle issues, Mr. Hull wrote:"Helmet use is a safety issue. Helmet law is Politics".
Since the Federal Highway act of 1966, the governments have used the helmet law issue as a means of people control, or "Feel Good" legislation, sort of a Political soccer ball being kicked from one party to another, from the Senate to the House to the Governor.
I see helmet law as a no cost half a$$ed attempt to provide motorcycle safety to the masses. To seasoned bikers it's no secret the Feds are totally clueless about effective motorcycle safety. Feds would like to gradually curtail motorcycles travel and to ultimately see bikers disappear from the roadways.
Just to inform you where I'm coming from, for over 40 years I wear a helmet and probably always will.
It's helmet law that I hate!

Exactley! it is a law made so that police would just have 1 more reason to pull someone over. Helmet use is much safer, but even joggers fall and hit their heads. The law is very intrusive. like seat belt laws. There are circumstances where maybe they shouldn't be worn - many do limit side view and hearing for low speed electric bike or scooter/moped rides. Just like someone with a bad back getting hurt, just twisting to put the belt on.
Maybe we ought to make all resturants blend all the food so that the choking hazard is reduced. More laws just make people into scoflaws.

Yup, makes it easier for some people to just sit on their ass and do nothing. Politicians love that.
Now, if you're a good little boy, the Illinois legislature might let you carry a gun in public....

No desire to carry a gun in public , if I did I would though . Sorry you're so down on the Gov. , could be a lot worse I think . I guess we all have the option to move somewhere else .

I logged on to the VTF yesterday searching for an oil filter number I switched to on my last oil change when I came upon this thread in General Talk. After commenting on how I had been fined for a non-DOT lid I rode out on my Kawasaki (no oil in the HD) in search of an oil filter wearing a 3/4 lid (nice day not to hot). Riding East on 58 approaching 71 in stop and go traffic I pass the same trooper that ticketed me on Memorial weekend , I just glared at him and shook my head in disgust.
A coworker mentioned he had heard on a morning radio program a couple of weeks ago how troopers have been raising revenue with the lid law lately.

SO what after helmet laws are you ok with? How about your pipes have to have an EPA sticker or you get e $300.00 dollor fine? Ohh wait that's in Boston Mass.
What Next: only allowing bikes that are stock on the road.
I will tell you one thing, I grew up and learned to ride in NH and I felt a great deal more safe riding without a helmet there (and in all the states I have road in with out helmet laws) than I do with a helmet in Los Angeles!
All other drivers are more aware of bikes in non helmet states.
I will say on last thing here too, you will lose your rights as long as you choose to be silent. People do not bitch just for the sack of bitchin.
People who stand up for their freedoms are standing up for foolish folks like you who hide their heads in the sand!

Safer without a helmet ? Maybe I'll figure that one out later . I'll fight for whats right as hard as anybody , I just don't think helmet laws are in that category . Me foolish , how rude , besides you're the one not wearing a helmet .

Please! Leave me alone. I'll wear a helmet if I want to... it is my life, not yours Uncle Sam.

"They" also gave me a loaded weapon to carry, usually an M1 Garand, an M1 carbine of a Colt .45ACP.
If "they" were to allow me today to always carry a loaded weapon in EACH state while I ride my bike, I would gladly wear any freakin' helmet they choose....
