Wouldnt mind making a complete list & turning it into a sticky eventually for everyones reference.
e.g-FXSTB= F? X? S softail T? B? Nightrain?
e.g- FXR = No idea?
Please add the models you know & i will add them to the first post.

What a good idea faroogoo
(ever think about changing your name?)
Each time I'm referencing a particular model, I get a little weary of looking in my H-D manuals and this info isn't that easy to find using a browser.
If I may suggest converting/breakdown into a family tree format, or a tabulated list by Model Family that is easy to reference/look-up.
Personally, I'd appreciate just the model name and model nomenclature (Letter Codes).
First submission: how about FLHTC?

Also add dhill.comHe has it broke down and added the years that they were run from 1903 to the present. His site also has a bunch of other goodies on it that I found helpful.

The second letter (except Sportsters) only designates the tire:
L - Fat
X - Narrow
There are both FL and FX models with springer front ends.
And don't forget the third letters T (FLT and FLTR) fixed fairing and R (FXR)
