Not a Dime in 09 for the city of Myrtle Beach

As some of you know Myrtle Beach is passing new local ordnances
to push the bikers out of the city of Myrtle Beach. What they thought was we only came down for bike week and the rest of the year we put our bikes away or go back to our home states not to
return till the next event.

Well surprise

A resent statement from a local official summed it up when he/she
said "I think we screwed up"

What they realized is we just don't come down for bike week, But
we also come for our vacations. We come down for golf. We come down and bring friends with us. But now we are not coming anymore. We have told our friends and family not to go into
the city of Myrtle Beach and now the back pedaling has begun.

We need to let them know that they made a big mistake and not to do it again.

The word that is going around and should be passed on to other
sites is "Not a Dime in 09"

You can ride through the CITY of Myrtle Beach. But you will
not spend a dime in the city of Myrtle Beach. We want all to ride
through the city as many times as you can without going out
of your way to do it of course. But let them know and see you just passing through. If in the past you booked rooms, used dinners or
spent any money in the the city. You will not again till the BS stops.

Power to the people that unit in a just cause

Dear Sir:

my family and I have visited MB several times. I would like you to know that because of recent, poorly thought out ordinances, we will be driving through in the future but we will not stop and spend a dime.

you screwed the pooch,

I have been a visitor to Myrtle Beach for over 15 years. Due to the recent attitude you have taken towards motorcycles, I will not be spending any money in Myrtle Beach. I will spend my money in cities that make me welcome. Myrtle Beach is not one of them.

of course, a lot of them make sense but sometimes rules should be relaxed during festivus.

Screw Myrtle Beach (No Offense) come to Va Beach instead. OBX Bike week was put on twice this year in Kitty Hawk NC. They say yes to the revenue that these events bring.

I was up fishing in OBX and found out about that. I'm thinking about checking that out. From what I understand, Very Biker Friendly. And rooms half the price of MB.

Peace:

too bad, the wife and I rode to MB last year for bike week and had a great time. She bought some cool stuff and had to have it shipped back home. We won't be back. What a shame.

Yeah, it's a shame. Over the years I'd become great friends with the management of my regular hotel. They are an awesome hotel. They called me and offered me and my family a complimentary room when my brother wrecked his Harley in the spring of 2007.

But - they are in the city limits and I can't spend another dime there just on principle.

I plan to be visiting the area municipalities and spending my money there, just not in MB proper.

i dont suppose you have a reference handy for that, do ya?

im curious, as last i heard there was no such concern, and most people and the municipal govt was pretty happy to say "good riddance" to the bike week folks and their supposed great economic blessings.

surprise me if you can, but I dont believe that MB thinks they screwed up until i see a reputable link.

Fact is, if it weren't for black bike week none of this would be happening. Yes, some MB residents would prefer no bikes, but the black week has really gone over the top. It is not about bikes; everybody goes just for the party and the behavior is pretty atrocious. Cops can't control it, NAACP and black leaders won't condemn the behavior. The city is over a barrel. They are throwing the baby out with the bath water. What else can they do?

Black Bike Week

We've all know this for years. So why doesn't the City enforce all of the hotel I.D. rules, limit public drinking, BUT still allow vendors and some hotel sponsored outdoor parties? Maybe some of the restaurants could hire private security for the week.

I don't know what happened... Black Bike Week? I don't know if thats the cause, if you can give us an article where they complain about it maybe, but I think they just don't want us there anymore. If they don't want us, there are probably 30 other cities that would be happy to have a bike week, and all the revenue that goes along with it!
