Gold wing riders are the more likely to be real riders, logging many thousnads of miles each year, unconcerned over their image..lol
Can you 'ride' with them..probably not because
a) you can't ride for 175 miles at a time, fill up and ride for another 175
b) You will be asked to leave because nobody wants to ride behind a 'look at me' performance exhaust .
c) You will suddenly realize that you, not they, are the ultimate poser and go home in shame
can you ride with them? No. They are really riders , who know how to ride and not just put on designer sweats and go for a jog around the park.
You want to see a real motorcycle? Look at a Valkyrie.
Can you ride with them? No stay in your driveway and polish your chrome with your do-rag. leave the roads to real riders...lol

Dear VTX.
Remember, you should always wear jeans under your chaps.
That way you won't show your A$$ like you are right now.
Go polish your "Valkyrie"...and when your done, pull your pants back up and go polish your motorcycle.

I would suggest if you want to hang out here, you need too...
1) Remove that chip on your shoulder, we here really do not care if you ride a Honda, Kawasaki or a Harley, it is just that you ride is all we care about.
2) I suggest you spend a bit more time reading some of the posts here, and learn about things before post this ridiculous nonsense, and make yourself look the fool.
3) Before you lash out at someone, realize the mods here will come down on you, and you will be asked to leave, and that would be a shame to loose someone like you without you learning anything.
I suggest you play nice, stick around and who knows, you might just learn something about real Harley riders.

I guess I was alittle hard on the OP. I thought he was serious about not riding with Goldwing riders.
If he was serious, I thought he might stand a little perspective on GL riders..lol
my amends.
LOL..couldn't afford a Harley? I ish i could find one I wanted to finance, finacing is not problem here.
Problem I have is, they seem too small too me, and lacking in power, lean angle, suspension.
At 6'2 230 lbs anything in the Dyna family feels too small and cramped, even with fowards.
Rk feels underpowered and I'm scraping boards waaay too soon.
Touring family, nice, but not practical for low speed in town duty given I do a lot of communting too.
V-rod...um..pass
There is three Harleys I would buy if i could find one, just because I love them so much and the ergos are too bad with some upgrades
1) An Anniversary FLSTS or even better an FLSTSI
2) A '65 FLH
3) A '36 EL
I'll gladly finace one of those babies if I find the right one at good market value.
You know, I would like to meet some real Harley riders, because around here, I swear I see mostly a bunch of guys playing pirate with putting, maybe , 1,500 miles a year on their bike...lol
Guess they have that in every crowd..lol

Sure, there are a lot of bar-hopping pirates, but the glide owners in my area (Houston) ride the wheels off of them. It's not unusual at my dealership to see 10-15k a year racked up on average with quite a few far exceding that. It helps that our riding season is virtually year round.

yesterday I saw huge pack of bikes coming into town. When they stopped at the light I was amazed to see how many bikes...50-60. They were all cruisers. Kinda an impressive site. One thing that caught my eye was that none of them were Harleys. So there is at least one club that does not allow HD's.

Let's not start with the "real" rider thing. That debate is so old and tired it should be put on a shelf forever. If the most anyone can put on his or her bike is 1,500 per year, they're no less of a rider than anyone else... they just don't or can't ride the same distances.
We all -- ALL -- enjoy bikes regardless of anything else. Let's start by embracing our similarities instead of alienating each other for our differences.

Hey, I ride with a guy who owns a VTX1800 every weekend. Met with a friend of his Sat. that has one of those CanAm three wheel contraptions. Please forgive me guys! Do I need to go to confession or something?

Of course I'll ride with them.....
But,
1) I will not wear any Docker slacks
2) I will not blip the throttle unnecessairly
3) I will ride at the tail-end of the run as not to upset anyone (in case I forget about note #2 above)
4) I'll wash my bike...but go easy on the wax
5) I will not fart..(at least not out loud)
6) And I'll try talking in complete sentences w/o using the "F" word.
Thanks to all that posted here...
One thing I learned is...some can't take a joke...
or at least spot one, right VTX1800R ?
A ride is a ride....and I'll ride with anyone..bike species ain't a big deal.
And I might violate note #5
Tom

Yes, that's all very well but I think a few people will change their minds when they find out that Goldwing riders tuck their shirts into their underpants.

....and yes it is a sin for it is written
.....and on that day he went up to the Goldwingistines and asked for communion and they mocked him and spake unto him saying how dare you come here in your doorag halloween costume for truly it is harder for a HD rider to $hit through the eye of a needle than it is to hand out the dairy queen flyers. And the HD rider picked up the assbone of a giraffe and fell upon the Goldwingistines and cleft the pseudo road-captains head in two. There was a great wailing and gnashing of teeth and they cast him out to the land of Detroit saying "Thus perisheth the enemies of Starbucks".
So be warned...
Bill
