PEORIA, Ill. --
A 40-year-old man has been indicted on fraud charges for allegedly swindling customers at his motorcycle shop out of nearly $1 million.
Chip Miyler was indicted on five counts of mail fraud, three counts of wire fraud and one count of bank fraud on Wednesday.
He was the president of Mid-West Choppers in Galesburg from 2001 to 2005.
Authorities say he allegedly took payments for custom-built bikes from 25 customers, but never completed the work.
The U.S. Attorneys Office in Peoria claims Miyler also sold off motorcycles he had used as collateral for a 2005 loan.
He filed for bankruptcy in 2005.
It was not immediately clear if Miyler had an attorney.
