Three Unrelated Questions

#1. Could someone direct me to a thread (I'm sure there's one here somewhere) on what's involved with throwing a LITTLE rake on the forks. ('95 Sportster)

#2. What are the odds of getting pulled over wearing a novelty, beanie type helmet...one of the little teeny ones.......(Nashville, TN)

#3. I've read on a couple of places on this forum about people "living for the scrape" and "don't worry about scraping the pegs/boards"....."happens to me all the time"......etc................I'm generally a very cautious rider and it scares the sh!t out of me when a peg scrapes........if you're over too hard and get on the peg, couldn't that send you flying ???

Three novice questions.........looking for any help...........thanks !

CJ

Odds are real good that you will get a ticket in Tn with a beenie, as they just started cracking down on them up there.

Scraping is just the noise you hear when you are at maximum lean angel. That is when you know to lighten up a bit..

As far as the rake .. do a search..

You kind've make it sound like "a little rake" is easier to do than "a lot of rake". The only way that I know of to do either is replacing the triple trees (the two pieces holding the fork legs on) with a set that are raked. And of course replacing the legs with longer legs (which you'd need as the front end is now raked). It's not super hard, but nor is it trivial. And of course it will effect handling.

If your sportster has mid-mount pegs... they are much harder to scrape than are floorboards. They are higher from the ground, and closer to the bike, whereas floorboards are lower and extend further out.

I've got forward controls with a heel rest.........I'm sure I'll learn to not scrape, but that might put a dampner on my cornering
