How to read your VIN number

In case anyone was wondering...(thanks Roadking)



Harley Davidson VIN Decoding:

First Digit:
Market Designation
1 = Domestic
5 = International

Second & Third Digit:
HD = Manufacturer and Make
Harley Davidson

Fourth Digit:
Motorcycle Type
1 = Heavyweight
2 = Middleweight
(901 cc and larger engine displacement)

Fifth & Sixth Digit:
Model Designation
BH = FXST – Softail Standard
BJ = FLSTC – Heritage Softail Classic
BK = FXSTC – Softail Custom
BL = FXSTS – Softail Springer

decoding serial numbers

Mine is an 06 Dyna with a 1HD1GM designation. It is supposed to be a superglide. I did'nt see a GM listed in your codes. What's up ?

GM is a Superglide. Guess the list as posted is not complete. HD Parts Manuals have always had this breakdown.
