The Harley engine rebuild program...

Hi there,

Anyone send their engine back to Harley for the rebuild/refresh program?

They claim it comes back good as new, looking new with a 1 year unlimited milage warranty....

Anyone done it? Looked into it? Comments?

Thanks in advance,

Warren

Mine ain't old enough to even think about it yet, but I'd suspect it'd
be damned expensive!!!!

If you can get some "displacement enhancements" and it looks brand new, that might not be too bad...

They will only rebuild it to stock specs, so if you have a hot cam or other performance parts in your motor, take them out cuz you won't get them back. I believe HD charges $2500 but you have to pay a dealer to crate it and ship it.

MPZ is near correct!! They will return the motor witin 2 weeks all set up with the very latest enhancements that have evolved for the motor you have--different bearings, seals --etc.

The reason to do this as opposed to buing a new crate motor is that the serial number will match your bike and title.

The warranty is back to the 12 onths unlimited miles that you received when you first bought the bike.

I THINK that the dealer has to remove and reinstall thenoter in order for the warranty to be in effect though. 2-3 hours down and the same back up again.

It is a good time to tink abut the starter and other items that would required you to do a major tear down.

A friend had one done on a 80 inch evo after 165k miles. He seems to be real satisfied and has 25k on the new moter.

Regards.

I think its 1999 bux plus labor at dealer for R&R.

you can get a new evo in aluminum finish for 2999 from the moco so this factory reman is about a grand cheaper.
