I know those belts are supposed to be super tough but just knowing it is back there is driving me nuts.

Agree!

I found a flint stuck in the belt on my '91 FXRS. The rock went completely through the belt and removing it was difficult.

Anyway, after removing the rock, I just rode that bike another 7 or 8 years, and the belt was still fine. But then I only put about 50K miles on the belt after I pulled the rock out.

woodwalkertc88 is an unknown quantity at this point
I have 55 k on a rock hole belt ( in the middle ) ,, doesn't the manual address this and say if its in the middle ride it ???
Last bikes belt had 3 holes ( in the middle ) in it,,,rode it many many many thousands of miles like that
If everyone on this forum checked their belt for holes the results might be surprising , its not uncommon
If you change it you may have another by next month

I have the same issue right now
rock indented the belt between middle and the inside edge
could have been there a week or 10 years
I bought the bike 3 months ago

i have a new belt on order
but not sure if I want to get it put on yet

I wish I knew I could do it myself
I have done alot of other stuff
Is there a website that shows how to do it??
step by step
I would also like to put on a new clutch too

all is original on my 94 Ultra

thanks for any help

The service manual tells you how to change and adjust the clutch. If you are even slightly mechanically inclined, change the belt as a winter project. You need to pull the inner primary so that should be self explanatory as to what needs to be removed to do that. Air impact tools really help with this job but are not absolutely necessary. Follow all torque values to the letter with a quality torgue wrench, use blue loctite, and a can of Gasgacinch is indispensable to keep any potential leaks at bay. Private little tech tip....Many Harley Dealers use Gasgacinch on even the best gaskets to ensure leak free repairs.....so I have been told? I use it with fantastic results. A very thin coating will do ya! Good luck...It isn't very difficult if you take your time.

I had a woman get stuck to my passenger seat 20,000 miles or so ago and so far the only trouble I'm having is my miles per gallon are off a bit? Adjusting the wife helped a little.

Same Deal

I found a rock lodged in my final drive belt about a month ago. I actually started a thread here and received some great info and a link to a "how to" repair sequence. I decided to remove the peeble (pain in the ass) and ride on. Damn expensive to have the dealer replace. I think that I am going to chance durring the winter.
