re #28, reading this the first time is what made me think i had the same problem, but i got no responce from my pc at all.

anyway i took the scoot into the local HD dealer and i did indeed have it hooked up to the wrong connector under the seat. ( i had called the same dealer the day before and was told this was the computor link) . the one to use ( 03 flhrsei2) is on the starboard side under the side cover. he hooked his putor up first so i don't know for sure if i could have link up w/no problems or not. never no now. he did come up with a new dwnload that was more current than the one i had in the bike but it was an "invoice " load. meaning i would have had to pay for it. after knowing which plug to use i hooked up to that one ( i had my laptop with me) and the dwn load took. he could not tell me if the new "invoice" map would take out what i just installed so we did not go that route.

anyway i dwnloaded the best map for my scoot and it ran like a top.
BUT (always one of those, right) i made a run of mabe 30 -40 miles and when i pulled over the dip stick heat guage read 238 degrees. now i live where i had on today full leathers and thick gloves.

question for the board???? this is to damn hot RIGHT( translated still to damnd LEAN )?? any CVO owners want to chime in and tell me what temp your at in full leather conditions...

stock 03-CVO other than A/C and slip on bassanis's ( 4"). anybody got a map?

PS -- RE: "I am out of suggestions otherwise"
thanks for taking the time to make them......

where are you located in Illinois?

There are some folks that know the SERT and are excellent tuners.

SERT Rev limiter goes to 7500rpm

I have a TC B motor, so I limit mine to 6000. 6200 is max on a B.

The EFI forum doesn't allow pictures it seems, so it will have to stay here.

Springer, I thank you for all the time and effort you exerted to help others
learn more about the SERT. You have opened my eyes to a number of different
options I may attempt on my own and forego the added dealer fees. When I purchased my SERT I did so for the convenience of tinkering,so far only the Dyno Tech has used my unit and everytime I have had a charge ( $$$) for him to do so.Also my SERT package has been kept at the dealers to be sure nothing will be lost. I believe I will see if my Tech saved the last Dyno Tune info and ask if I can have a copy.

First, really good stuff, Springer!

Springer's answer a few posts back pretty well covers this. However, as a long-time computer consultant, I always advise clients to back up vital files. I expect a map which you worked on for long time would be considered a vital file.

You could do this by burning the files to a CD, but this sometimes changes the "attributes" of a file. Not difficult to change back if you're experienced with computers but if you're not conversant with them, a somewhat better way of saving files may be to use a Zip drive. Also, if you are hooked up to a home network, you could also save them from your laptop to a desktop.

Very interesting topic. Does anyone know who exactly is manufacturing the sert for HD? Do they have a Website with more info on the product?

FXSTDISWILD,
Welcome to the forum. The PDF files (2) are within this thread, you may have to read it right thru again & watch for it. I can't tell you which page it is on because there are different settings for the number of posts displayed per page - I have mine set at maximum and the PDF fileis on Page 2, yours may be different.
Hope that helps, John

Race Fueler

Springer:
Do you or does anyone have any thoughts on the HD Race Fueler or just experience with the Race Tuner?
It is significantly cheaper, I know it doesnt have all the tuning ability as the Tuner, but I am interested in what exactly it does do if you arent planning on installing more than Stage 1 and pipes.
Very nice post by the way. Informative and insightful.

SERT MAP Files

Springer,

As a new member to this forum, thanks for the post with all of the great information. This was top notch and is exactly the kind of information and education that I, as I'm sure others came to this forum for. Thanks for the excellent post.

A questions that I don't believe have been asked/answered:

As we now know we can't restore our original Map back to the ECM with the SERT, can we get the original factory Map from Harley, or are the only maps available on the SERT CD. Seems as if the dealer can get them for the TECHPC Map Restores, so it would seem appropriate that we should be able to get the map as well (of course for $$$)?

2. Are the 2006 maps for the new Dynas with the closed loop O2 sensers included in the current version of the SERT? How often are the maps on the SERT added too? Do you have to buy a new SERT to get them? I know, this is really 3 questions. Sorry.

Thanks Again,

Ron
