New version should be out soon since this is October when they were promised.

Regards.
I think that Aggie has stated it pretty clear but I will also just say that all the maps on the SERT are just fine, no problems with them. It just the map you wanted is not there. I do not know what maps will be coming on the next SERT release but I have been told by the dealer more are coming. My guess would be they just did not have all the combination ready intime for the first version for the '06 model year. Guess we will all have to wait for the next version to see what they have added.

SERT 2006 CVO SE Ultra

I spoke to the MoCo today about a MAP for the 06 SE Ultra and there is no plans for any MAPS for this bike. The EPA is cracking down on the MoCo and going forward there will be very few MAPS available. They will leave the MAPS up to the dyno-tuners to limit their liability. This started when they took most of the SE parts out of the accessory catalog and put them into the SE Pro catalog. I you go to the H-D web site you have to accept the disclaimer that you wo't use any of the parts on road going bikes or suffer the penilties of the EPA.

Springer, very nicely done sir! I don't even have a SERT, but I feel I could perform what is needed to use one after reading your thread.

Did they say why there was a calibration for the 06 SE Softail with the same engine?? Just wait...I bet there will be one for the Ultra on the next release.

Yes you can. I made 2 adapters and used a regular Cat5 networking cable and extended mine to about 60 feet. The adapters can be purchased from radio shack. I will do a post on how to make the adapters.

To make a cable for the SERT, to replace the original short cable, I use 2 adapters and a standard Cat5 network cable. Both should be available at Radio Shack or a local computer store.

The adapters are easy to make. You want 1) RJ-45 to Male DB-9 serial connector and you want 1) RJ-45 to Female DB-9 serial connector. They come in a kit form, an example is in the first picture.

Next you have to plug the wires into the DB-9 connector. On the back of the connector there are pin numbers. Each wire is a different color. Take both adapters and plug the same color wires into the same number hole on each DB-9. Example, take the blue wire and plug it into pin 1 on the connector for both adapters. Then yellow in pin 2 on each connector. Do this for all the pins. There are only 8 colored wired and 9 pin holes. DON'T USE PIN 9.

This is what they look like when completed. Note that pin 9 is missing.

After making these adapters you can the purchase any length Cat5 network cable and plug each end into each RJ-45 on the adapters. I would keep the cable length to less than 100 ft. I use a 60 foot cable without problems.

I have not used the version 4.5 yet but if it is similar look at post #6 in this thread. It will show you how to choose a com port. Also you don't use the add hardware to add a com port, XP should already have it detected.

Where is say to have the ignition on, you also have to have the RUN switch on your handlebars on.

It will only give you com 1 as a selection if there are no other com ports in your PC so my first guess is that it isn't the com port.

What is the bike? year also.

To check the com port in Xp goto my computer and right click and select properties. Then click the hardware tab at the top and select the button that says device manager. When that opens click the + beside the PORTS section. That will list all your ports and you can click on them and configure them from there. I don't think that is where your problem is.

I believe you have the correct connector but there are 2 that look identical. Your manual will state where the correct one is located, when you get one.

Read post #28 again as it is the only other thing I can suggest. It takes bringing the bike into the dealer to have a stock flash reinstalled to correct the problem it talks about. It may be what you need to do also.

I am out of suggestions otherwise.

also wait for the ecu to go thru it's start-up routine.

Try waiting until it is completely ready to start, then on your PC, click on Get ECM Info. See if it will return the VIN number. If it will do that and all of your connections are good and you do have a Com port selected, there is no reason it shouldn't upload a map.

Are you sure you have the Diagnostics connector plug completely snapped into place? All your other connections are tight?

I had the error msg once, the first time I tried it and it was because I forgot to swith the Kill Switch to RUN. There! I admitted it. :
