FLSTC needs another gear

Hi

I'm new to the forum. this might be and old question hope not rehash old news. I have 01 Flstc carb yost tube SE air cleaner V&N long shots. At interstate(75) speeds the RPM's seem high compared to 97 evo Flstc same mods. the local dealer said he has had some guys go from a 25 tooth trans sproket to an 27 tooth aftermaket with some success. Anyone have any luck with this or any other ideas.

You got a shorter stroke compared to an EVO. The revs won't hurt it. Don't worry about it.

27 teeth!

The dude gave you good advice. Thats what I ran on my last shovel. If you have the bucks have the inner primary cut away and run 28 and youll lope past em! But you have electric start so 25 would do you as I recall thats all tht will fit with chains! good luck

You can change your front pulley to a 34 tooth and add on a recalibration unit for your speedo. and drop aroudn 500-600 rpms at highway speeds. Or you can shell out the big bucks for a six speed. I have a slightly used pulley and recal. unit that I just removed that I would sell for 150.00.A new pulley is 170.00 and speedo. recal. 110.00 ED
