Again i believe the 98" will last longer and be more durable over time.I can tell already that this is going to be a Giant killer all ready. I can tell you that there is no comparisson to the RP/GMR motor and HyPerformance/R&R motor already.HyPerformance being the better. I put the 3:15 gearing back in for the breakin only and already whipped a ole rival twice the amount i use to. Just couldnt hold back and he kept on F------ with me. all i could tell him was . Yep its not even broke in yet. Dyno numbers are only that but the real ride is a excellent performing street, trip, drag, everyday motor that is dependable and fun i chose to ride the 98' . As Bigman said bring the big ole motors and lets see. Booggerbe
Dave Cote is living in Tenn. now, why not look him up and run against his 117" with 13.5:1 compression. Standard softail chassis, 150 rear tire. I am sure he would be happy to help settle the topic. Failing that, if you find yourself in Vegas with your bike I know a certain someone with a 124" and 200mm rear that will join you at LVMS to help figure this out.

I know that bike...and rider. A 98" (normally aspirated, non NOS) has no chance...no matter how strong it is.

Lot's of bad or mediocre big inch builds out there with lots of bad or mediocre riders. So a really stout 98" will whup them.

I don't have much for of anything for anybody right now...LOL As stated in another thread, my motor is apart once again waiting for yet another incarnation of a 117. Going to be bringing it down to earth and trying to have fun with it again. I agree with the above post.....there are a whole lot of half assed big inch setups out there that will get their clocks cleaned by a well set up and tuned 98 inch motor, but when compared to a bigger inch well set up motor....that is a whole different ballgame. And of course, the pilot has a little to do with it, as well.

113 vs 127

This is a picture of a recent trip to Akron for Founders day. These guys are my buddies from southern Cal. and they are getting ready to race the Hyperformance demo Bourget 113" with R&R billet heads against their 127" R&R ridgid with electric shift. The ridgid jack rabbited ahead of the 113" and then ran out of gearing and got ate on the top end.

So, your point is it is ok to compare apples and oranges? Compare two bikes with those drivelines, but with similar gearing.

Randy...cmon...you know that is not a good comparison.

You build a maxed out 98" R&R deal...with any required upgrades in drivetrain/chassis etc.

Now you build a maxed out 117" R&R deal...with any required upgrades in drivetrain/chassis etc.

Now you get a GOOD pilot and take both builds out to test performance. Stop light to stoplight, 1/4 mile, 5th gear roll-on, and any other condition you can dream-up.

PLEASE.....don't tell me that you think your 98" will beat your 117" in ANY possible perfromance test.

The cubic inch war will never end.I will always go with the most cubic inches you can stuff between the rails any day of the week.Simply put!Big cubes makes it's power down where it should be for a street brawler.Of course there is nothing wrong with a bros wanting to run a peaky smaller cube motor.They too are a pure joy,if that's what floats your boat.

I hate to burst your bubble, but if your racing the thing, chances are the rings are already seated and your motor is already broke in. 98 inchers are nice setups, but to call it a 124 killer is almost kind of comical with the setup you have listed. Is is a nice setup? You bet.....but is it a 124 killer? Not even close unless someone has one hell of an abortion 124.

I'm sure the guy with the 127" expected to whoop the 113". The 113" is a softail Evo. It has a ton of torque!

....and we all know that the electric or pneumatic shifter is a very common streetbike mod, don't we? It is right up there with wheelie bars and slicks as the top three streetbike mods.
