You all are right...
My brothers stock 88ci takes me out of the hole for a VERY short bit. My dad's Hillside 103 will pull me almost all the way through second...But by the 2-3shift fagedabowit!!!!!! I pass by so fast they say i am gone in no time. When i do pass them, there are very tiny in the mirror in no time at all.
Traction is tough sometimes and launchin a 98 and a 117 or 124 are 2 different worlds all together. The fun factor is way up with bigger motors. I think Rons new motor will be KILLER though! No detail untouched there!
Dennis, isnt there more traction at the track though? I remember from my car days, where on the street you would always spin no matter what, but launch in the rubber trails and its like glue?

Finding the groove & hooking with street tires even when a track is dragged/glued is tricky. Man, does the adrenaline start to pump when you pull up to stage!

I will say it again,There ain't no substitute for cubic inches, only more of them.Leave Boogerbe alone and let him enjoy his new toy. There a lot of bros out there that will respect him as well.Always remember there will always be somebody out there that has a bigger gun.

At the track, the only bikes I've lost to were two 124s. One was kinda close all the way with him pulling ahead at the end by a bike and a half.
The other, was a lesson in bulk for me - I got him pretty good out of the hole and was ahead all the way to the top of third, feeling pretty good when he came motoring by strong! I was amazed at the power as he just pulled away - I was all tucked-in, WOT and could only watch!! He ran a ten something to my high 11.
That guy could ride, but even he had his hands full launching. Only one other big bike I've observed at the track actually ran to potential - ie, the rider was good enough to control the launch, quickly get hooked up and start flying. That guy - Dave Cox - won the Michigan All-Harley drags running an 11.0 dial-in. His final runs were all 11.1 - 11.3, consistent as hell on a 124, 10-sec. bagger.

The name of the game is velocity! Do a 1:1 dyno pull (usually 5th gear) and check 2,500 to 5,500 rpm in real time. The big port/big valve heads will usually do this in 8 to 8-1/2 seconds while the smaller port/valve R&R heads will do this in 5 to 5-1/2 seconds.

yeah, usually! if track is prepped right and you can hold your line. its past the 60 ft that gets slippery. but on the street, you know how quick a big motor can break loose. well, it may do the same at the track. we have a local 1/8 track that is terrible. line up in the dragster tracks, launch, and as soon as you get out of the track, you feel the bike walking around-----even at 70 mph. its crazy. slicker than the country roads!

Not sure what you are saying but if you want to win on the track you better be turning over 5500 rpm.

Easy everyone, Yes it is a 98" ( BUT) as TxChop said . There is no part in the new 98" that has not been pampered and checked for the best in it. Randy and Tx, Bigman and a few others new what my goal was. It is to make the highest Dyno numers for a 98" that no one else will be able to touch. So far i no i have done this. Just got to get it to the Dyno if all you want to see what a real 98" motor can produce. Randy has done his job for me and R&R did there part. I no talk is cheap and Dynos are just numbers. As Randy stated, look at the time factor. Who can get there the quickest. I myself was with Bigman when he was putting a whipping on the 124" . I have heard some excuses but this guy had them all. I couldnt do alot with him myself for having a wore out tire. I would jump him as BigMan did from the hole shot ,but blow the rear tire and spin every shift. I could have built a monster motor but as i believe and the proff is in the pudding. While the big inch motor is there trying to gather his eggs and catch up. The 98" is gone and left the big motor to try and catch him. Another factor is the longetivity of the stroked motor. Again i believe the 98" will last longer and be more durable over time.I can tell already that this is going to be a Giant killer all ready. I can tell you that there is no comparisson to the RP/GMR motor and HyPerformance/R&R motor already.HyPerformance being the better. I put the 3:15 gearing back in for the breakin only and already whipped a ole rival twice the amount i use to. Just couldnt hold back and he kept on F------ with me. all i could tell him was . Yep its not even broke in yet. Dyno numbers are only that but the real ride is a excellent performing street, trip, drag, everyday motor that is dependable and fun i chose to ride the 98' . As Bigman said bring the big ole motors and lets see. Booggerbe
