I understood you and I laughed too... I wanted to reflect the majority of us would not have reused the old rings like
tnford27 did.
Rings are so cheap it doesn't make sense to reuse them...
The WOW was for your pottie mouth I didn't know you had it in ya... LOL

Well I rode about 240 miles yesterday and all is well, engine is quite and runs strong, didn't use any oil and it didn't smoke like it did before the swap, my freind said it puffed a little before the swap, I was told to reuse my rings by my indy and by a couple of other members on the forum, it seems ok, they did not have 1200 miles on them and like I said were not seated yet, the jugs looked great so I decided to reuse, if I have any problems because of this I will post but now all is well.

No, actually, they weren't. They sent me new pistons and new rings, but told me not to use the new rings. In fact, they weren't just telling me to reuse the rings, they were adamant about it when I was questioning the smartness of doing so.

As cheap as a set of rings are why would you want to leave them to chance????? Thats like reusing your oil filter when you change oil...
|
To each their own, but when HQ, with their reputation and experience, tells me to do it, I'm going to listen. Obviously they were right as I've had zero problems since.

I thought KB hypereutectic pistons should have an .0005 clearance.

Just curious, did you deglaze the jugs before putting the old rings back in?

maybe because his old rings were properly gaped and they did not trust him to properly gap the new ones, and i would think he would have had to check the gap any way even on the used rings. hmm, what a mystery.

Excuse me... The reason I questioned it was to learn.
