I am simply saying this.
The implication is: "if I do your heads, this is what you get".

This is correct, if you know where the center of chamber and center of valve are this is possible and instead of cleaning up the whole shifted port to make it look like it has been cnc machined, he chose to clean up one side and hand blend to the other to keep the velocity up (on the unwelded heads) and fill in the recesses on the welded ones. It's amazing to see. If your ever in N.H. stop in and get the nickel tour.

On his billet heads he didn't hand port and digitize because there was no port there to begin with so he designed the whole port in Mastercam. I've watched him make and modify ports a couple of times and now he writes macros and probes them.

Before the probing process, how does the CNC method deal with core shift? or maybe it isn't dealt with?
Thanks for the explanation Randy.

I've had the nickel tour....and then some. About half way through, my head was spinning due to information overload. It was hard to comprehend any more!
Quite impressive what these folks do!

I am impressed too. Have had a few good very technical talks with Reggie SR and knowing the CNC control side of things (my day job) I am impressed with his achievements. I have been porting heads since 1973 and never considered makeing any money at it so just did it for my own use with the help of some old timers like Larry Ofria learned oldschool. The CNC has advantages. Grind time is a killer.

KOC, thanks. When I first read your post it sounded like he was abandoning the cylinder dowl datum and isolating the port. I was trying to comprehend how that was eliminating core shift, and not just following it (shift). The sucess he has is solid and I have been puzzled by my misunderstanding.
$.05 tour? That sounds pretty cool.
Thanks again.

Don,
Little different now that your on the other side of the fence, isn't it?
Get your flack-jacket on now, so you won't take one in the chest, and keep on smilin'.

Yeah me too ROFLMAO
Two tablespoons of metal removed some valve work and over 100/100 from a low compression baby cam 95" motor, no flow bench used. It's human nature that head porters would not like this stuff and call foul, the customers like the offering though. Truthfully I don't think they will all fly this high but will push over 100tq every time with a good pipe and tune and have a very wide torque curve. Perfect for the guy that wants roll-on power and not breaking the bank. Some home shop machinists could do this themselves.

Here is another similar done on the earlier heads just valve changes as-cast ports.
"STREET PORT" Heads, 9.6:1 Compression, Stock TB/Stock Injectors, Andrews TW26G Cams, S.E. Slip-ons
Decent considering not nearly as nice as-cast ports on the earlier heads.

nwguy, I'm not cry'n foul, I just thought it was funny as he!!. You have to admit it was a good one.
Can you post the graph? I can't do the links.
If it's the one on HTT from BD, I saw it. It's a shame there was no bench work, the heads could have been brought up to the the flow rate of the new castings, prior to being shipped and that customer could have gotten his 25 HP.
Still not to bad, I have seen worse.

Don,
Looks good.
We just completed an in-house build/install/tune.
80" Evo, Our Stage I Heads, OEM ignition, CV carb jetted, S/E slip-ons, and a Bob Wood 6. Tuned out, on our 150, at 79.9 hp and 91.4 ft lbs in lousey air.
Not bad for an engine 13" smaller, with our entry level head.

Big Boyz Is The Bomb!!!
If you want a quick turn-around, the best time to have Bean work his magic on your heads is in the summer months when he isn't swamped with so many satisfied customers!!!
I had him do my port, polish, CC, and decking. He is very precise to your requests and asks all the important questions (altitude, cams, driving style, loaded weight, etc.).
Bean took all of this into account and made my bike run like a "raped ape" even with the differences found clear across the country in Utah!!!
