Night Rod Questions

Well, My brother just moved up to a night rod from a roadster and I have a couple questions from him.
The dealer threw in some screamin eagle (the off road ones) pipes that he will be able to have installed next week. Should he wait until break in is completed before installing them or not?
Also, How will the re-map effect his mileage?
Should there be any modification to the airbox/filter? It looks as if it wont have any problems breathing.
What oil have you had success with? We know that its important to stay away from friction modified. Opinions on Shell rotella 15-40?

Thanks in advance!

EVERY DEALERSHIP IS DIFFERENT SO MAKE SURE THEY WON'T VOID THE WARRENTY before he does those things! The hot setup is a Fuel device"Gils Box,PC,RT ect, ect" with a K&N"if you can find one" or Screamin Eagle Filter, and Topless! That with your Pipes V or Self-modded will be 10+rwhp
Thats a good start!

Duke, "The dealer threw in some screamin eagle (the off road ones) pipes"

No such animal the only S E pipes I am aware of are the hollow points. There are 50 state legal, cosmetics only, and do not require a re-map. There are some others coming out D&D, Car Chemistry, CFR, ETC.

My advice keep it stock till break in and 1000 mile check, you can then switch to syn oil if you wish, and by then there may be a few more pipe options out. Like Kaz mentioned get gils box and a K&N, with the new pipes.

Nick

Thanks for the replies,
Ya, we just found out that the dealer didnt quite know what they were talking about. So now we can either wait until they make some SE pipes for it, or he can use the equivelent cost for store credit.
They were saying that the "hollow points" are a little louder except for at idle, but they probably dont really know that either.
It is an up and up dealership, so we arent to worried about haing them cover the mods if they do end up doing them.

thanks again,
Oh, is there a particular after market pipe that you would recomend? Not open pipe loud, just enough to give it a growl.

The latest from an Italian company Quat D. I know it is in Italian your just going to have work with it. The set-up is for the R and should work with the D as well if not they have a set-up for A,B, and SE models. the current price is as follows;
The Standard (straight) $816. (NOTE I am pretty sure the High will not work on the D so disregard the Alto version) The Alto (high) $888. The only importer of these in the states has a current deal going on until they get a dealer network established. The standard being $650 and the high at $725.

pics and dynos

Let me know your thoughts.

V/R,
Nick
