2005 CVO V-Rod 1250cc!
The Custom Vehicle Operations is releasing a 2005 Screamin' Eagle V-Rod with a big bore kit.
I wonder if this means the V-Rod public will get a factory big bore kit as an option for purchase. Has anyone spoken to the dealers? I am interested on how much it will cost and what Harley's word is on this kit. The web site claims 10% increase in torque and horsepower.
2005 CVO V-Rod
Anyone have more information about the engine?

The big-bore kit and the new wheels may be great news but the rest of the package is disappointing. Instead of all the chrome doo-dads how about an adjustable inverted cartridge fork front end, a rear suspension with adjustable compression and rebound damping ala the FXDX, Brembo brakes and some more lean angle. Now that would be a performance cruiser.

All the stuff you listed might have a harder sell to most people. What you wrote looks like a cool project for your bike, but may be too specific for the general public. My breaks stop just fine, I am sure Brembo stop quicker, but I have never heard of them or used them before so why would the general public need them?
I think Harley is doing a good job at offering what the general public wants. Not everyone can be KAZ and run with the juice (and other extensive mods). But many want a faster V-Rod. I think the big bore kit from the factory would sell pretty well, not because the V-Rod needs more power, but because a lot of people are always looking to get more cubic inches. The majority of Twin Cam owners that I talk to are looking for more power and most are considering big bore kits for their bikes. The V-Rod owner didn't have that option until this year.
Has anyone heard if the Harley big bore kit is available for seperate sale to V-Rod owners? How does this kit compare to the one aftermarket kit (is it bigger or smaller or the same)?

I still want my pushrod activated air cooled V-Twin, but I fear it will not be long before:

I don't disagree with you on this, but have you really never heard of Brembo brakes before?

Brembo makes great breaks!
BTW, what is the reason that you discuss about brembo brakes? The CVO V-rod does not have brembo brakes.

Go read sgpatters post. He was giving his suggestions for what the bike should come with!

I'm not totally off the mark. Victory today launched a new model with triple-disc Brembos and inverted cartridge fork. Somebody else in the world seems to think those items have a target market. As a matter of fact, it seems to be a cross between what I'd like to see in a V-Rod and what others would like to see in the air-cooled CVOs. Aside from the inverted front fork and Brembos, it has a 6-speed tranny, a 100 ci. motor and a 250 section rear tire.

I only know what's on that website. From previous reviews I've read, the Freedom engine Victory manufactures is considerably stronger stock than is the Twin-Cam. I would suspect the 100 ci. on this bike is stronger than the Harley 103 but that's no more than a guess. The Victory runs a 9.8:1 CR stock and, at least in theory, the overhead cam design should allow it to produce more power.
On the other hand, I owned a 2000 Victory and it was a piece of crap with exceptionally poor dealer support. I understand Victory has come a long ways in the past few years so they might now be worth a look. They do cost nearly as much as H-Ds but the retained value is generally much worse.

I too, would have hoped for more on a CVO VR. #1 being lean angle and #2 being 6-speed tranny. Frankly I can't believe my 02 will be running beside her 3rd year siblings and there has not been any improvement in the 2 biggest complaints we all had as test pilots! The CVO finally gets rid of the damn uncleanable wheels, but not the standard line? that's got to be the #3 complaint. and what about the dogs' ass? is anybody over there listening at all? I guess not (<echo> not..not...not..)

2005 CVO V-Rod 1250cc
I just got back from Sturgis and got to see the new bike and talk to the rep about the updates. Here they are, (1) the rear axle is bigger. the old one was 1 inch then shanked down to 3/4" through the brake caliper. The new one is 1 inch all the way through. (2) The new instrument guages that come with the CVO are great it even comes with at clock function. (3) The CVO had chrome factory rear turn signals, but don't see a part number for them yet. (4) The CVO comes with 1.25" handle bars. I would say that they are working on the updates. Their just not coming as fast as some of us would like it to.
