Gasket Replacements (Cylinder Heads & Alternator)

I've got the V-Rod in the shop to have both cylinder head gaskets and the alternator gasket replaced under warranty. I was dripping oil all over my lower belt guard and rear sprocket.

Has anyone else experienced this failure? The dealer says it was a common problem and HD changed the gasket design to correct the problem.

are you sure it was HEAD gaskets? the cam covers have leaked a bit as well as the alternator covers... because of too much chrome making the sealing surfaces not perfectly flat. sanding the covers on surface plates seems to cure the leaks.

I had the rear head gasket leaking oil. My dealer said it was the first one he had seen. They had to order the parts and it took about 2 weeks. Have not been able to ride it since I got it back a couple of weeks ago because of the weather. Can only hope that it's fixed.

I changed a set of headgaskets on an 01, but I cant really say they were leaking, more of a take care of the customer thing. Did your head gaskets actually leak? I have seen plenty of valve cover breathers and alternator gaskets, but I cant say I have actuallyseen a head gasket leak.
