Fuel Recall Repair ??

It's been 3 weeks now since I received the letter about the fuel module flange. The day after I received, I called the dealer and was put on a "list" that they said they would call when parts arrive. Has anybody had thier bike fixed on this yet ??

I now have a oil leak from my rear head gasket and am taking the bike in for that repair. They said hopefully that parts would come in while they have it.

Still waiting here in Indiana too. You would have thought that H-D would have made up or purchased a bunch of the repair parts in advance and had them ready to send to the dealers. Does anyone know if the repair is a whole new fuel cell or just a replacement fitting in the existing one?

i also have been waiting since the letters came out 3 wks ago. my dealer is still waiting for the parts too. makes alot of sense to send out recall letters then not have the parts readily available. i think maybe the moco thought that we wouldnt take them in for the new parts or something? just doesnt make sense. anyway no go in chicago.

I took my bike in Saturday for the head gasket repair and still no parts in stock. The dealer says he has received no parts for anyone yet. The service manager told me they got a letter from HD one day before we got our letters. I asked him if I called HD would it do any good to complain ?? YES

I think that every one of us that has the letter should start calling HD to complain. I cannot understand why HD would notify owners about this problem and not have parts available. If we start bitching maybe it would speed things up.

I just called the shop and still now parts here either. The service manager said he call Friday and they are telling him that they are still on back order.

The repair is listed on www.v-mod.com in the Tech section. Its just a fitting that is installed into the fuel flange. Besides a tapp the trick is to get the "Nut Ring" off. I have the fittings in stock.

Hmmm...I have an '03 that I got in Sep't. of '02, but never got the letter. Is it NOT all '03's?? Do you think maybe my letter just got lost somewhere or not sent by mistake? Anyone have any idea?

I took my '03 in for this repair (didn't get the letter.)
It's symptoms are
Stalling (new behavior)
Flat in the midrange (new behavior)
Open the fuel tank when it's running, lots of activity in there.

Dealer says "your bike is not listed on the official recall list we can't do anything on it"

"Did you check the fuel pressure?" I ask
"No" is their response, then they regurgatate the above response.

Still waiting here... The Dealer said, the part is B/O'ed with a release date of 11/14,
BTW FastVRSCA the replacement is the whole flange, new design, not just the fitting.

All in all, those of us that received the recall letter from HD have good reason to be disappointed in the company. As I see it, they should have bent over backwards to accomodate those of us that purchased the V-Rods and in a funny kind of way signed onto being part of their "Cusomer-based R & D project " for this bike. If they are trying to gain acceptance in the Harley marketplace for their new design/technology they are doing a pretty piss poor job of it. If I were them I would do something meaningful for all of us that are stuck with the wait, wait, wait of trying to get a factory defect rectified. Listen up HD, you have a bunch of formerly loyal customers that are now very disappointed in what you are doing (or, more appropriately, not doing)for us.
