Question Powercommander question

I am thinking about getting a Power Commander for my 02 vrod with double barrals and SE filter and the dealer flash.

My question is does the dealer flash stay in the computer? If i Have problems with the Power commander can i unplug it and go back to the dealer flash?

Thanks

AJ

AJ, that's right. The dealer flash stays in the ECM and isn't changed by anything you do with the Power Commander.

In short yes, the power commander does not alter the current flash at all. The power commander only alters the data while it is plugged in.

Why?

If your getting the dealer flash, why would you want the PC? Unless of course, you plan on tuning further on your own.
If all you want is the engine tuned correctly with the 16gauge pipes and SE filter, all you'll need is the flash.

thanks all. But now Kennedy has me wondering, Does the power commander make the bike run any better then the dealer flash. I was under the impression that it did, but maybe I'm wrong?

Thanks again

That depends on your bike and the person setting up the PCIIIr. The HD flash for your setup works perfectly well for most people. If you're getting the PCIIIr then you don't need additional profram loaded (flashed) onto your ECM by the dealer. You should, however, have the dealer load the updated factory flash for the '02 bikes to correct some idle errors. It's a no cost upgrade but it's not for performance and will not cause any warranty issues.
