Question Chain Drive

I was speaking to Chopper Steve with V-Mod today regarding my 240 rear wheel conversion.

I know what is presently available:

1. (Eurocompontents) http://eurocomponentsusa.com/vr_2406.html

I cannot use this set up because of the narrow 1 1/8" belt. When I get the RWHP that I want, it will eat up that tiny belt.

2. (Rick's) http://www.ricks-motorcycles.de/engl/indexsec.htm

I do not like the POLISHED aluminum wheels with all of those bolts. Also I do not want the rear wheel out of centerline. (Kaz, I know it works fine but I want the rear wheel in the centerline) Also the Billet swing arm they offer at almost $3000 is a bit costly and I still have a belt driven V-Rod.

When speaking to Chopper Steve he indicated that once you go beyond approx. 150 RWHP the belt dive will not work and a chain drive is needed. He also indicated that the stock swingarm could be used if I go with a chain drive.

NOW to my question;

What are the negatives with a chain drive?

This post is not intended to slam anyone that has any of the above mentioned setups.

"Thank You In Advance"

Frank

Oh sure Frank see I help you out anymore! The Biggest draw back from the chain is when it gets warm the chain grease flings all over the wheels and stuff!I'm pretty anal about my V-rod being clean so it was a MFer at first! It's gotten better but I still wipe everything up after each ride!
Kaz......
p.s who else besides me has a chain drive?

Cannot think of anyone else with chain drive, but then again, cannot think of anyone else with $50,000+ in their VROD either.......you are definitely exclusive Kaz.

P.S. What about Tripp Nobles, is he still running a belt cutting 9.572 ets? Now he is making some serious power!

Kevin has a chain setup.
The PA. Dragstrip Track Champ.
And yes the grease is on the wheel.
He said the cleaning is very annoying.

Larry,
Where have you been - it has been awhile - I hope that all is well with you. Did you ever get that shifter working?
