I may have put 800 miles, or more, on the bike with just minor symptoms (slight loss of power at lower rpms) that did not significatly decrease performance, about 100 miles with a surge that got progressively worse, and about 5 miles with the bike nearly unridable.
Does anyone know if the engine may have been damaged.
Probably not since the driveability issues were probably the result of the EFI retarding the timing as it sensed ping. I'd be pretty confident that between the computer doing it's best to keep the engine healthy and the relatively low mileage that you're OK.
