Advice on Accessory Electrical Connection
I just installed the J&M amplified speakers. The look isn't the greatest but I am missing my tunes during rides.
The hookup is fairly simple but I need a switched 12v source. Before I go splicing into the random wire, does anyone know of a simple source for 12v switched DC.
thanks
Larry

There is an accessory plug under the left side cover. Should work for your radio, I don't know what the amperage is though.
Thanks: Steve

I think the acc. plug under the left side cover is what my J&Ms are running off. No problems with it so far!

Great, sounds easy. I will run to the dealership and see if they have the female connector so I can make the installation neat.
thanks for all the help

I will try and post one tonight. The speakers look pretty chunky on the bars. Might look better on drag bars. I am willing to sacrifice the looks for the music. It's all about the riding....

My Rumble Road speakers are wired from the same aux. connector. I've got'em mounted on crash bars ("engine gaurds") tilted slightly up. No offence intended, I went with the RR speakers 'cause appearance was just as important as the tunes to me and I found the J&M's to be buttugly. Just one a$$h@les opinion though! What are using to supply the tunes?

No offense taken at all. I considered putting them on the engine guards but since I don't have them, I figured it would simpler to put them on the bars and move them if warranted.
I am using a standard walkman type CD player but am considering going to an MP3 player.

Forgot to ask...how did you hook them to the aux connector? Did you splice into the lines or did you get the female connector? If so, where did you get it?

I got the female connector from the dealership, coppersteve gave me the part number. Very simple to install. I have an MP3 player and am pretty satisfied with it after doing some learning and research. I just bought a memory chip and can hold about 60 songs now! I went with the Rio Sport model because of the big button in the middle. You can play, stop, pause, or skip without taking your eyes off the road and with gloves on. I also got the tank bra and had a leather shop sew a belt loop on it for the clip on the MP3- worked out great. Good luck with it!

Thanks for the advice. I will check with the dealership for the connector. I like the tank bra idea. I was going to go for a tank bag but the bra would would much less obtrusive.

In the end, I used bullet connectors after cutting the HD connector off. It was just too hard to hook up a male connection.
