Installing HD Reduced Effort Clutch Ramps

I'm installing HD reduced effort clutch ramps on my '04 Road Glide. I have a question regarding placement of the retaining ring.

The manual states: "Install the retaining ring so that the opening is above and to the right of the outer ramp tang slot in the clutch release cover."

Does this mean to the right looking at the cover from the inside or outside? Is the placement of the opening that critical? Unfortunately, the manual doesn't provide any visual for this.

I know I should have taken better mental note of the placement when I removed the retaining ring but I guess its a bit late for that now.

Thanks for any assistance,

I'm sure they mean as you view the cover while you are replacing the the inside. I also believe that placement is to insure that it doesn't bind or hinder anything but that's just my guess.

Thanks Fatboyskip.

Thats what I guessed also. The clutch lever seems to be operating fine so I'm not too worried about it.

Now if I could only test ride the bike without first putting the exhaust and floorboard back on. Next time I'll make good use of my digital cam!

The important thing is to not put the retaining ring opening IN the slot in the cover. That would leave the ends of the retaining ring unsupported and could possibly lead to breakage.
My Dyna manual does show a picture, but it's not much help in determining which right they are talking about. I decided they meant as you were looking at the inside of the cover with the cover flipped upside down.
