Screamin Eagle Heavy Breather Kit Install Issues

Purchased the Screamin Eagle Heavy Breather kit Saturday and went ot install it Sunday afternoon. Here are the problems encountered:

1. Kit did not come with the two gaskets that go on either side of the TB cover plate. Went to dealer and was told that some kits failed to ship with the gaskets. Parts guy gave me the gaskets so back to the garage I go to finish install.

2. One of the button head screws was manufactured poorly, preventing an allen wrench from fitting in the head. Of course by now the dealer is closed, so I had to take a bur bit and try and grind off the "nub" in the head that was preventing the allen wrench from engaging.

3. Installed the gasket that goes between the intake tube and backing plate and I had to "stretch" it over the plastic spacer used for with the 50mm TB. Once installed it was "wavy".

3. Once I had the backing plate installed it was very frustrating trying the get the tube/flange assembly to line up so the three screws that retain it would thread properly. I removed it several times to inspect the threaded holes in the backing plate to make sure they weren't being cross-threaded, as they felt very tight when installing. I even ran the screws throught the holes several times to clean out any chrome from the threads.

Has anyone else experienced any of these problems when installing this mod? Or was I just having a great day.

strokerjlk is reading this now saying WTF is this?
Loosen the T/B bolts to line up everything. then tighten breather bolts. then T/B.

make sure you have the correct head breather bolts. they need to have the holes in the end of the bolt.

I didn't really have any problems with the breather bolts (w/holes in center) or installation of the backing plates. The problem was installing the tube/slip flange that bolts to the backing plate. What a pain in the a$$. I was considering taking it back off this evening and making sure no holes were stripped in the process.

I had to cut the inside of the gasket on mine so it would not be wavey, also the insructions on mine stated that 2008 and later you could use the O.E. breather bolts, not true as you know. Even the dealer said they got burned on that one thats how they knew what was wrong with mine when it was building crankcase pressure, newer kit instructions have been revised and state only XL models do not need new bolts. For $300.00 their could be a little more thought put into these overpriced air cleaners... But they look cool as hell when installed!
