Case Boring Question
Anyone know how much do you bore the cases for the respective big bores in an '03 -- 107", 113" and 114" specifically?

The 107 is a bolt on. The 113 is 4.220 x 1.500. The 114 is 4.410 x 1.500.

A 107 requires a case bore if you are doing an oversquare 107 which is a 4.125 and I would do that over a stroked 98. You could then later (if you wanted) stroke the 107 and make a 117 out of it. A well built 107 you will definitely enjoy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 107 is a bolt-on for the '07s with the 4.375 crank. Mine's a, '03 with a 4" stroke and so requires the 4.125 cylinders to go to 107" -- right? So, my question is how much do I bore the cases for the 4.125 bore? Thanks!

Yep... that's what I'm thinking. Real interested in you going to 117 too. One of the guys here has a 117 and is making some BIG numbers with it, I believe running the Woods 9F and Rev Perf cast heads.
How's your build coming along anyway?

Correct me if I am wrong, didn't you just finish with that awesome 98" build? The power is addictive, isn't it?!
What cams are you running in your 98 to get those nice numbers?

Adlerx,
You're right. I think I did the build early last year or the year before. I think the year before. Then, I tweaked and tuned, etc. for the second year. It made the numbers posted in my sig and since then, my tweaking has it running better than ever. I haven't dynoed it again, but my azz dyno tells me it's stronger.
Anyway - I'm torn. It's running really well but I'm thinking, researching and starting to plan. I may just hold off until it's time for a rebuild. Ironing out the hiccups was fun, but frustrating at the same time. Then there's the cost.
You know the drill though -- you have a strong build too and we want more... My cams are S&S 585s, Rev Perf 1.9 heads, HDWrench-Built CV44, ProPipe, DTT, rollers, 3.37s, Baisley spring, SE clutch spring & VPC. Got a pic in my profile.
I'll be watching to see what you do too!

I would have the company that I bought the jugs and pistons from do the boring - that way you know who is responsable if something is wrong.

Yep, I agree. I'm just wondering how much boring each requires.

G,
If it were me and it's running that good, wait til you need to go in there to freshen it up or fix it and then convert it to the 117". Hard to do but probably prudent.
I've got the same problem with my little 95, I want to go bigger but the damn thing just runs too good to mess with it right now. I've got near 7K miles on this build and it's running better than ever.
Going to the track tomorrow to work out more bugs in the Pro Gas bike. Otto and I thnk we have a handle on it now. Supposed to be 76* and sunny, ought to be an awesome day at the track.

According to Fatboy's avatar, his cases were bored to 4.125. Does that answer your question? He has the engine configuration you were suggesting

I guess you and I are alot alike! I just finished (?) My build in january and my bike does run damn strong, even with 14,000 miles on the build it still feels stronger all the time. Think I'll just conplete the carb conversion this winter and ride it another season while slowly aquireing parts for the "big" build next winter.
I also am considering just getting the Jim's 120, was offered $4K and free labor for the swap for my motor. That would mean only another $3k for the Jim's 120, can't do the next build on my motor for that so it's really something to think about.
I'll be watching to see what you do next....

I recall that the bores for 107 and 114 are 4.125 and 4.25 respectively, but I dont recall what the stock, 107 and 114 spigot sizes are.
Anyone know the cylinder sleeve thickness? It seems we could back it out from that number and the bore sizes...

Dave,
I'm probably going to do as you indicated - just because it's the right thing... but I'm liking what I read of the 117.
Russ,
You're on-target. It's the spigot sizes for the respective bores I was curious about.
Thanks all!
