I have been running Crane 10530 lifters for a SB Chevy for the past 9k now with no troubles. I told a buddy about them. He called Crane and confirmed that the Chevy lifters and the ones packaged for a HD are the exact same lifter. The HD marketed ones are 3x higher in price. I bought 16 lifters from Summit for 199 bucks shipped to my door, used 4 and sold the others for 50 bucks per 4 to others. Everyone was happy.

The oil metering to the top varies and some are right and some are not. Some have no chamfer parellel to the roller axle so the lobe ramp can hit the lifter body especially with the more radical grinds.
They are not same for same despite dropping in and working seemingly OK

The Crane mentioned will work but the samples I saw did not have the chamfer I speak of so lobe to lifter body could hit, easily checked with the cam cover off and a sweep with no pushrods installed.

A 350 chevy has lifter preloads of .020-.060. If these are of the same design as HD then why does HD recommend a preload of .100? Could that be why they are loud?

Just keep in mind that a Harley top end grows when it gets hot. Alot more then a small block Chevy.

Revolution Performace uses the Crane for Chevy and sell them as "Hydro-Rev™ Hydraulic Lifters".
