My Cams
Finally got a reply from Andrews products in relation to my cam designs.................so I rang them and spoke with "J" and was really quite astonished with the answer I got in the end!!!!!
I approached Andrews about making cams for me in November 2005 (4 designs) and I wanted to market these under the banner Southern Cross Cams and have been patient and remained loyal in my wait for Andrews to make these cams up until today! (9 months!)
Andrews have always been reluctant to make "small" cam orders that compete with their own brands and designs and let you know this during the conversations and emails you have with them.............this I believe is fair and acceptable and they DO control what is made by them.
Today I spoke with "the man" and asked if he still had my specs and he replied: "probably not"
I advised that I had just come out of Iraq and was going to say further that I am ready to continue with the order, but he broke in and stated:
"Firstly I dont like dealing with private contractors from Iraq"
I said: "What?????"
I then said: "I dont see what my working in Iraq has to do with anything"
He repeated his response, then stated that he had someone else on the line and asked me to call back in a few minutes.
If this is the best Andrews Products can do for me then I obviously dont need anything from them in my bike or any other bike I will ever own!!
Thats even worse than my treatment by Performance Machine!!!!!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Incidently these private contractors support the American Army and Airforce 24/7 in Iraq and get killed just like everyone else. Particularly those that go "outside the wire" daily like myself, and we are not even allowed to have any type of weapon.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just more bad taste and I certainly did not expect that from him!
Ozzie

Hi nw guy, yeah, I reckon each of us on here can bitch like hell about one of the big name outfits giving us crap.
Just that Iraq is quite a sensitive issue with me right now and I can not fathom why this guy, who is supposed to be one of the "good" guys in the industry would even make any type of comment.........
I was really just following up with a cam design that I think would work, had no intention of competing with Andrews or any one else in cam design, just asked the questions in regard to order runs etc. and waited, and waited, and waited for this guy to knock me out some designs that I was going to get tested to see if they were any good or not...............now I see he was just hoping I would go away and I am livid in trusting him for so long and then get this bullsh!t

OZ didn't mean to sound insensitive to the Iraq issue, that is just plain crap. I have had a custom on order for 4 months and they dropped the ball on me too so you are not alone. Perhaps they need to stay away from the public and sell their stuff through DS and CCI as others have done.
The whole thing pisses me off.

You got to love Andrews. The same dudes told me to buy a Mercedes when I asked (not complained) about gear whine.

That sucks, bro. I was looking forward to seeing the results of your designs myself.
Have you tried S&S? They might be more accomodating, even if you are "contracting from Iraq".

I am not sure S&S grinds their own. VThunder may be a better choice as S&S does not seem to be wanting to help individuals much anymore JMHO. Even small indys are getting the cold shoulder.

Dont sweat it nw guy........I understood where you were coming from.
Andrews is just another company that has gotten big off our sweat and support and now want to forget about the little guys.
Dont worry, I am exploring other avenues.................even in Australia and Europe.
All the best, Ozzie
