Revtec

The one good thing that can be said for them is that they have an ISO9000 certified plant. Unfortunately it's in Korea.

I also have seen several cases broken from RevTech....the last one the whole rear motor mount in the rear cracked off and expossed the flywheels and the broken connecting rod.

The problem with melting them down is, when you are done it is still revtech aluminum

WOW Thanks! I'm going to the shop right now and throw that lump in the dumpster. I think we should all take everthing off our bikes thats not made in the USA and see if they can be pushed home.

I hope you don't think we are picking on you. Lots of the "top" custom bike builders just bolt in revteck motors. It is my understanding that they come with a 3 year warrenty? Not bad.

Now, I used to run a shop also and sold lots of revtech stuff and was never impressed with any of it. Some of the others on here that also commented have been in the business for a very long time and are also speaking from experience. The opinions you got, in my opinion, were honest and not just because it was made in Korea. I also understand that more of it is being made in china now too. My opinion, which you asked for, was made without location of manufacture in mind at all.

With all that said, I hope you don't have any problems with your engine and it turns out to be the best engine you ever had. If for some reason it doesn't, you'll know why.

When talking about Twin Cams, since this is all I would use to build a bike with, there is nothing wrong with a stock Harley drive train. Do a mild build and you have a great drive train with readily accessable replacement part.

Here is a picture of a stock TC that was polished with diamond cut heads and cylinders. It is a 95", 10.25:1 SE cast pistons, Big Boyz Street ported heads, SE 204 Cam and a stock HD 5 speed tranny. Cost around $7.5 - 8K including transmission.

Rest of build here http://65.38.172.84/forums/showthread.php?t=56026

When are you going to finish that thing so we can see the final results Springer?

As far as the revtech motor is concerned, I'd check in with Homer if he's still around. He put one in his bike and the last time I heard him mention it, he was very happy with it.

heres that old RevTech thread: http://www.v-twinforum.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=42989
