More on valve springs

Didn't want to hijack the other valve spring thread!!
Will my stock springs be OK with the 37G cams I just
bought? I'm going to clean up the ports and blend in
the seats etc. so if there is any question about the stock
springs I would change them.
Thanks,

Disco

I would go with a stiffer spring Disco....but do us a favor and call Andrews and ask them what seat pressure they want with the 37g cam. I am courious to what their answer will be. My cam book says stock springs will work with a .510 lift and 240 duration. Let us know what they say.

Dear Sir:
37G cams should work quite well with stock HD springs. Stronger springs will provide no advantage.

The instructions on their website http://www.andrewsproducts.com/PDF_f...am88_Gear1.pdf
state stock springs are ok up to the TW-50G, but looking at maximum duration (246-250) for "bolt-in cams" rather than just lift, the TW-44G would be the longest for stock springs.

I have used the stocksprings without any problems, however if the engine is a unit with over 25K I will use a new spring set and upgrade to titatium retainers and the 10* tool steel locks. But keeping the pressures at stock levels. No reason to change pressures unless you want to loose hp with excessive valve spring pressures. I really like the 37G cam for 95 & 98 inch combos they work extremely well are are easy on the budget as you can forgo the extras that other cams make a must.
