Smile I have now built my 95" motor but... partIII

HI!

I wrote earlier to this forum and was not very happy with my 95" build, i dynoed the bike and the results was 87 rwhp and 101.8 ft ibs. Not very impressing, it seems that i drop in torque after about 3500 rpm. My dealer says that itīs the pipes that is the problem.
Is he right or is something else wrong? What should i do?

BTW, The diffrence between the cv carb and mic was only 1.4 rwhp!!!

Part III
I have now changed my se-II slip on to kromwerks tapered slip-on and the result was awesome. I made 98 rwhp and max torque was 101 ib ft and we have not started to tune the bike yet. I have a dip in torque from aprox 2500-3200. but that can be fixed by tuning the carb according to the company who did all the work on my bike. They say that there is a little bit more to get because the carb runs way to rich. And with a propipe...

I am now very pleased and the bike runs like a dream, the trottel response is superb.

FXST 2000

I have similar set up to you and I getting a 2-1 exhaust. The mikuni is what gives you the great throttle response. It is not supposed to be much more powerful than the CV. I think you may be experiencing a dip in torque due to head porting too. The ported heads taken in too much air for your setup. IF you do the ported heads you are supposed to run the 45 mikuni, honned intake manifold and a higher lift cam (This makes great horsepower at the top but your setup is more for torque). When I first started out to build my motor I wanted everything big like HTCC Ported Heads, HSR45, .590 lift cam. But bigger is not always better. The 2-1 exhaust will level things out. I make 100 horse and about 115 tq. I have the exact setup you have with only a gear drive cam (E37) and hydrosolid lifters being different. Notice how your HP went up but your TQ stayed the same, not enough back pressure.
