Installation question

2005 Softail
I am in the middle of upgrading my TC 88 to 95inch. I sent the bottom-end out to Darkhorse and received it back, (looks great)

Next step is to send my new pistons, old cylinders and heads to Beanz for his work. So, by the time I get everything ready to re-assemble it will be to cold in my garage to work on it.

I have a room inside my house that I could use to build the engine. I already have an engine stand and a sacrificial table. I could assemble the engine inside as a complete unit and install it like they do on TV.

Thoughts ?

Thanks in advance

Dont use the large size hammer, like they do on TV.

What kind of bike? Dyna,Bagger? If its on a jack I would not try to install it as one peace. Ive done it both ways...on a lift. If your going to mussel the motor in hole I hope your a strong MF and have a good back lol. seriously though, If its a bagger I sometimes assemble the rear cyl, head rker box as its sometimes easier. You need to have the trans lifted (strap or jack) in front so you can get the hole motor in. Its a big pain putting a assembled motor in. If its a Dyna assemble it in the frame. much easier to assemble in the frame. others may do it differently. Good luck

thanks for the heads up...the bike is a softail deluxe and it sit on a lift. Easy access, i just dont feel like dealing with the cold. I dont have alot of time to get this done right now, I probably have to do it in 1-2 hours at a time. by the time I heat up the garage, I'm outta time.

thanks

thanks to all who replied....I did take it out myself. I'll probably end up waiting until spring. this will give me time to collect up all the parts i need and take my time.

Go rent a salamander; like they use on construction projects. You can rent them in different sizes and the right one will heat that garage up in about 15 minutes.

After doing it several times; I install the lower unit first, get it in place and secured and the build up from there. JMHO
