Cam Delima?
2000 softail, fresh 95" build, wiseco 10.5:1 pistons, heavy portwork on 07 heads, heads decked to 80cc, pistons are at .003 in the holes,.30 cometics, and s&s G carb.
My delima is... i have 3 cam sets on the bench, a TW37B, an SE-251, and an SE-257.
Not sure which will be the best for my build?? Sometimes i just cruise, and sometimes i ride hard, im looking to get some respectable #'s from this build.
Also, the cam card with the 257 shows .560 lift, everythng else i have read shows the 257 to be .569 lift, maybe i have an older grind??
Thanks

Unless you can always get good gas you can rule out the 37 with anything smaller than 82-83 cc chambers and flat top pistons. No experience with the other two in a 95

Thats what i was thinking, im sure my ccp will be a little high with the domes and the .30 head gaskets, but the motor is built, just unsure of a good solid cam to use. Thinking of going with the S&S 585 and Ebaying the others.

The engine is set up about like my Heritage 95" was when I had the 251's in it.
It had the best power band of any engine I've ridden.
I didn't have compression releases; it could have used them.
It also had some valve noise, not excessive but it was there.

how will the 251's work with the G carb?
Heads are set up with 190lb seat pressure at 1.8, is this too much for this cam?

251's in a high comp 95 makes good power. They come on mid and pull all the way to rev limit.

rollers (rockers) not necessary but I believe in using them on hi-po valve trains no matter what. i used a 251 before with close to the same set up. Getting ready to try Feuling 574's, very close to the 251, with just a tad more duration and such.....give em a look

I'm liking that 585 idea, do you know what the dome cc is on your pistons?
