for 99-06 Big Twin (exc. 06 Dyna)

This may be a stupid question but I gotta ask it.
I have an 06 FXDWG I and am interested in a big bore kit from either S&S or hillside cycle, not really sure what route Ill go with yet.
Anyways now and then Ill look something up for a price and see "FOR '99 -06 BIG TWIN (except Dyna)
for instance the following description for a gear drive cam set up:http://www.arizonavictory.com/eshopp...aft_Kit_51.htm
Ive also noticed it numerous times on the different websites such as S&S and a few others selling their parts.
What is the difference in the 06 models?I do realize that they were a testing platform for the bigger engines that came out on 07.
Hope someone can clear this up.
thanks in advance for any info

In 06 the dyna was the first model to get the new hydraulic tensioners therefor some things that will work on other 06 models will not work with the dyna line .

I'm glad someone asked that question, I always wondered why that was.

Being that you already in NY i would try to make a trip over to Hillside and see Scott. I have talked to him a bit over the past couple years and he is always willing to talk and answer your questions. If you dont have time to get over there pm him and tell im what kind of build you want.

The 06 dyna was a little bit of a bastard child, 4 inch stroke motor but the first to have the hydraulic tensioners, also had a slightly different charging system rotor/comp setup that 07 up bikes. This was also the first appearance of the cruise drive 6 speed trans. The final gearing (belt and rear pulley) is also specific to 06 dyna's (compared to newer) and is a tad lower than the 07 and up bikes.

Loved it when those rotors bolts backed out and blew up the stators!
